My most “me” outfit in the colder seasons (for work) is some variation on on a sweater dress, tights/leggings, and boots. For the challenge this week I’ve decided to wear a different pair of boots each day with one of my dresses.
#1 Boden dress (old), gray Commando tights, Frye Melissa Lug boots
#2 Boden Winifred Jacquard Dress, black leggings, Born Cardi booties
#3 Boden Amelie sweater dress, black Commando tights, Frye Melissa lace up booties. These are the boots I most often wear with winter dresses and they’re in desperate need of resoling.
#4 Boden Hannah dress, back tights, La Canadienne suede boots (ok this is not technically a sweater dress but I decided to include corduroy dresses in the challenge as well.)
#5 Boden Amelie dress, black leggings, Born Cardi booties. I’ve just realized by taking these photos that this navy/burgundy dress is shorter than its brown/black duplicate (#3)
Reflections and what I’ve learned from this challenge:
I definitely have specific formulas for dressing that I stick to, and I’m fine with that. Looking at my photos I wonder if maybe I should experiment more with accessories? I hesitate with scarves because I feel too hot and constricted wearing them inside, also they add more volume to my bust area which I don’t need. Same for big necklaces. Possibly I could do more with bracelets.
Also interested in more midi hemlines- I bought the burgundy Eden dress from Boden recently (see finds) and it hits at an awkward mid calf length. I’m going to have it hemmed to a few inches below the knee, which is my version of midi.
