Summer is longer and hotter here in the Pacific North West than it used to be. It’s no wonder that many of my clients are stocking up on Summer merchandise, taking advantage of end-of-season sales, and embellishing their heatwave capsules. Here are some of their recent winners, and other items with good reviews that caught my eye. Many of the items are on sale.
1. Wolky Sandals
If you’re looking for supportive casual sandals for regular width and higher volume feet, Wolky sandals are an option. They are made in Portugal and great quality. Their adjustable velcro straps allow for a more forgiving fit. Most of the soles are black, so they work especially well if you wear black or can bookend your look with black hair. The hardware is silver which makes Team Silver happy. The styles are chunky, so not for Team Dainty Sandals. They make for excellent walking shoes and are surprisingly lightweight.
2. Banana Republic Utility Fleece Jacket
If you enjoy wearing shorter, soft fleece jackets in neutrals, this one is a goodie. It has worked on a range of body types and is VERY comfortable. Easy to launder too. The breast pockets are not as intrusive as they look, and the silhouette works well on a larger bust. The jacket hangs straight, and is not shaped at the waist. Might need to size down if you need a narrower fit. You’ll get an extra 15% discount on the sale price at checkout.
3. Eileen Fisher Kitts Sandal
Eileen Fisher does a version of these sandals every season, and they’ve become an iconic classic. Many of our forum members and some of clients have them, and swear by their comfort, support, flexibility, and sporty aesthetic. This version has soft knitted textured straps, and comes in a delicious and unique citron.
4. Fun Skirts
Here are some on-trend midi and midaxi skirts that won’t break the bank. If gathers, pleats, tiers, wraps, ruffles, bias-cuts, tulips, and flounces appeal to you in skirt silhouettes, now is the time to shop for them. Notably, the green Boden pleated midi has pleats that lie very flat around the waist and tummy area so they don’t pouf out. Also, the narrower styles are either cut on the bias, or have slits and vents in places that make them a lot easier to move in than expected,
5. Bueno Jesse Slide Sandal
These buttery soft slides are made in Turkey and have a smashingly comfortable footbed. The square shape of the heel and toe box give them a geometric and interesting vibe. Another nod to the ‘90s too. Chunky in a refined way. They run small so you might need to size up half a size, especially if you have wider feet. They run more true to size if you have narrower feet.
