The theme of this week is purple. A reminder, the idea is to have at least a hint of whatever the theme is in my daily outfit. Plus, I am trying not to repeat the outfits. You have been very generous in your comments last week that they almost scared me away and I contemplated quitting this game while I am ahead, but I quickly realized I am actually already addicted to the whole 'wiw' concept. This is too much fun not to do it or to do it on my own

Why purple? This color, as far as I'm concerned, needs 'royal' added to it. It's strong, full of character, vibrant yet grounded and fills me with positive energy. A bit like this melody.

Monday: Purple t-shirt + wide belt with metal buckle + skirt with a quirky asymmetric cut at the front + matted metal bracelet.
Tuesday: I have missed a splash of color the day before, so decided to rectify things with the red beaded necklace over the purple pullover. I also wore black pencil skirt and nude hose to make things a bit lighter.
Wednesday: Monday's outfit with the twist. I have spent today volunteering with the teenagers from the local arts college and assisted in teaching them about personal finances. I did not want to look to corporate or like I was trying to hard to blend in with the artsy youngsters. I think the skirt's tailoring did the job of being formal and interesting enough, while the short-sleeved black waterfall shrug softened the look a bit further. I also wore white t-shirt, plain wide black belt, purple tights and added the colorful necklace with a further hint of purple in it.
Thursday: Back to the office in the purple t-shirt worn under the red dress and with the black belt. I like these two colors together very much and try to keep styling as simple as possible.
Friday: Making the most of the remaining winter days and my warm purple items on the toddler-chasing day (I don't work on Fridays). I wore argyle sweater with the polka-dot b/w scarf for the casual and comfortable look. This is my first ever take on pattern mixing - I would have never thought of wearing the two before. Did it work?

Goodness, Ornelia, you look lovely all week long! I especially love 1,2 and 3--the clean lines are very appealing. I really can't pick a fave! I will say that purple suits you. You remind me of a dressier Aida--your individual pieces are so striking and you are so pretty too! 5 definitely works--great pattern mixing. I'm not even an argyle fan but I love this on you.

Oh, the purple loves you! My favorite is the purple top layered under the red dress. I will have to keep that in mind for my own red items. I also really like the polka dots with the argyle sweater.

Great job, Ornella! Ilike them all, but my favorite is again the red dress, too bad I can't pull off these two colors together.

My favorite is #2, but great week altogether! Love the idea of a theme! The purple and red combo is surprising and works well on you - I may have to see if I can mix up some items in these colors and give it a shot!

Lovely looks, Ornella! Purple looks very pretty on you, a little softer than red but certainly still striking. #2 is my fave followed by #3, the little bit of white from your collar in #2 is so fresh looking. Love the black belt and how it's tied in #4, ties in nicely with your shoes and hair and keeps the whole look grounded. And the dress is great! I need to find one like that. I like the pattern mixing in #5 as well, though I think I'd prefer a white/cream or black top underneath the sweater (or even lime?).

My favourites are 3 and 5. i love the belted look with the necklace and white shirt....looks very polished and pulled together. Number 5 - love the sweater and polka dot mix.....love argyle sweaters...never seem to be able to pull off that look myself.

Thanks all, I am really chuffed by your comments. Thinking back just a couple of weeks ago, I was pretty insecure to show you what it is I put on to get out and about, but you are doing wonders to my dress-confidence

The best thing is reading what it is that you *see* in my outfits, it just opens my eyes more. And it's just great reading which person likes which outfit, I am not sure I would be able to guess your choices in advance.

@ Kelly, I have never thought of my wardrobe in terms of 'individual pieces', but there is something in your words. It's kind of you to put me alongside Aida, I am an admirer of her simple looks pulled together with so much imagination.

@no.3 fans: QM, lyn*, bella, Angie, Sally - I surprised myself with this one! But I love it and I'm glad you like it too. It's probably my week's favorite too.

@(everyone who loved red + purple: rae, Ljubica, amyreh, Barbara, Sammi, Lisa, ): I'm happy you like it. I have worn this color combination a lot during the winter and I am glad that it got good marks.

@Aida: The shirt in no.2 has tiny black polkadots too and you're right, I had worn it to freshen things up a bit. I am glad you think it worked. For no.5, I actually wore white collared blouse underneath before, but I wanted to think outside the box this time. And, as far as I'm concerned, there's no more fab or less fab amongst us, we all inspire each other and that's why I love this place

@Denise, thanks for your comment and for bringing Madmen up. Ljubica mentioned it last week and I finally had a better look, as I haven't seen the show. That IS so much what I would be happy to dress like I love that era actually, some of my mum's photos from these times are very vivid in my memory, but I always lacked a bit more direction. My hairstylist also keeps giving me hints to get some style-inspiration in the times gone by. Perhaps it's time to finally listen to you all... now I have some style homework to do

Well I can't really pick a favorite here!

#3 seems like it was the perfect balance for the environment/tasks at hand, but 1 and 4 have that minimal-but-wow thing to which I'm always drawn -- and which make you look like a million bucks!

IMO you are made for these high-contrast looks done in clear shades. Probably why I think you can do better than the shades in #5's sweater (sorry!).

OT : in Australia there is a yummy chocolate bar called a Violet Crumble. It comes in a purple crinkly wrapper and the advertising slogan used to be "Violet doesn't crumble". Your comment about purple being such a strong colour brought the image right back to me...ahh, the wonders of chocolate advertising :).

@Vix, great observation about high-contrast looks I am beginning to see that myself too and funnily enough that seems to be the case with many other areas - I do prefer things that are clear, bold and defined. MH has been giving style suggestions along those lines for quite some time, but I wasn't listening as attentively as I should have...

@Lynne, I think wearing purple will never be the same again for me "Violet doesn't crumble" What a great mantra for the situations when I intentionally wear purple for the reasons I described how it makes me feel.

Btw, I must return to the comment about Mad Men... I had some time for browsing yesterday and couldn't hep but smile all the time, in my world these costumes count as superb and worth watching the show for. You must think I have lived under a stone not to know about it all these years, but I am not subscribed to the channel that broadcasts MM here, so I would have pretty much continue to be oblivious to all of its glamour had you not pointed it out - thanks again Ljubica and CocoLion

Dear Ornella, I'm glad we introduced you to the Mad Men show, because it can be the endless source of inspiration. And when you continue looking for the new glasses, think about something along the same line (which somebody else has already suggested), so that you can complete your early '60's look. As for the colors - I believe that you're a typical winter in the season color analysis, which makes you the ideal candidate for bold, bright colors like red and purple.
