Subtitle: Overcoming extreme posting shyness with a splash of red and some nice music too

Disclaimer: Long post

I have always thought it a bit unfair and cheeky from my side to comment on your outfits and not to post mine in return, and since I'm a very private person I had every excuse not to do it. Well, this week I had finally started taking photos of my outfits (MaryK was so right, the camera does see completely different thing than the mirror!) and I had decided to bite the bullet.

Also, as you can see, I've changed my on-screen name to my real one. I couldn't help but agree with Michelle who commented on everyone's honesty here which deserved the real name, plus Ljubica rightly had pointed out that many people get to be called by their real names after some time anyway. And, I have a funny feeling that quite a few names converge to Ella-esque nicknames, so this is also to avoid the crowdiness and confusion, and add a bit of uniqueness. Credit to my dad, then, for choosing to name me after the lady with an amazing voice who sings this song (you might have noticed it at the closing scenes of "Ocean's 12").

What I Wore?
I've been giving myself themes of the week in order to make the most of my wardrobe and really stretch that styling muscle. The only rule is to address the theme with one item at least. It's fun and gives me the opportunity to think what gets worn a lot, or not, and why. It is also useful in building what I really want, small but functional wardrobe that covers all my lifestyle needs. To add a bit more challenge to it, Aida mentioned in one of her posts these days that she tried not to repeat the outfit for a whole year, which I really like and will try myself too.
This week's theme was - color red. Why? It's my favorite color.

  1. Monday: The red thing today was my patent belt, one of my prize buys this winter. It instantly brightened the safe office outfit and for me this is proper thinking outside of the box. It may be close to my age, but my SQ (style quotient) has gone leaps and bounds - just six months ago I'd be off to work in the uniform of black cardigan and pants, hoping that the purple top was enough of the interest.
  2. Tuesday: The red thing today was the short-sleeved turtleneck under the b/w stripy cardigan. Not the best of pencil skirts for a pear like me I think, but I’m keeping it until I replace it with the right one. This outfit, btw, was labelled as "French" by a female co-worker.
  3. Wednesday: Today’s red things: vest under the grey cardigan and my shoes. I felt great wearing this.
  4. Thursday: The dress. The red dress. I hug this dress more than anything in my wardrobe. I also wore purple tights the color of which is in the wooden beaded necklace. A male colleague said I looked like Oliveoyl and not knowing him one might think of it as almost an insult, but the fact he took notice is fantastic, and later he elaborated that my hands look so slim and elegant in the black top. Good save I'd say.
  5. Friday: Two reds again, my hat and the belt for the casual outfit on my day off work which I usually spend taking my son to meet some friends and to the soft play. I have to wear practical, comfy clothes in case I need to chase him up in the playing frame or go down the slide with him

So, that's what I wore this week. To say I am bit apprehensive about posting my first photos is an understatement, but at least now I can cross off this year's resolution of doing one thing I dread in 2011. Thanks for bearing with my ramblings and I'd be happy to hear your comments.
