I'm thinking of packing a few pairs of white pants to Milan. Is that crazy? I've got enough room to pack some back up bottoms if they get dirty. Who am I kidding - when they get dirty

Thoughts on pros and cons?

Well its a terrific outfit, I can see why you'd want to take them! I always travel with a stain stick...I can't ever seem to wear white pants without smears or spillage or (most recently) bird poo that I failed to notice on a metal cafe chair. But usually the "whatever" can be washed out in a sink...so why not? I adore that top and the white bottoms really play it up.

Why not? As long as you have the right travel footwear for pants length. Maybe a little bristle brush of some sort for the smudges that may not necessarily require laundering? Your top is wonderful.

I wouldn't, if I were you, unless you have access to a washer and dryer.
At least for me, things get dirtier when traveling, and it's just not practical to travel with clothes that need to be washed after only one wearing.

They do look great on you, though!

I love the look of white and the look of white on YOU. I, personally, am very klutzy and prefer to be a light packer so tend to pack a darker than usual palette when going on trips. I suppose this helped when we unexpectedly attended a funeral when visiting my MIL, but it otherwise makes for some rather dreary photos. If you have the room and want to look fresh, why not pack white?

Oh, you look sensational! I love the way the top works with your specs! That's just such a terrific outfit.

I say bring the pants. What the heck. As long as you have room. I second the idea of a stain stick. I used this to advantage in China on my white sweater.

I'm afraid the pants shown in pic 1/2 may attract urban grime more than a skinny or BF leg pant. They're gorgeous, but I understand your concern. I guess what it boils down to is what you plan on doing while wearing said white bottoms.

You look great in the white pants and very happy. I do not own white pants and never will. I have a dog. Enough said. If you have room for back ups take them. Maybe you will find a place to wash them. I always do my laundry when I travel.

I am so wanting some spring and summer Ladywone - it's long overdue. I've got the jacket for the A/C and can remove it for strolling.

Great idea Cindy - of course bring along a stain stick for the inevitable spills. The top is a recent purchase - I like the oriental flair to it and the kind of ombre finish to it.

Marcy - I hear you! There's a good chance that they could get dirty just in the suitcase. But I may throw caution to the wind...

Oh Donna - sorry to hear that you ended up attending a funeral. But at least you had something at the ready.

Thank for the encouragement Suz and Stylefan. ABC you made me chuckle...haven't really thought about what I'll be doing in those pants...maybe have a gelato (carefully) or two...

One of the things I wondered about was whether white pants would seem out of place in Milan. Is it similar to NYC where a lot of the population is sporting dark clothing?

Thank you Angie!! We must be on the same wave length as I was thinking of three pairs: boot cuts, straights and capris. They won't take much room - especially the capris

Anna - it's only 10 days. I'll be taking 4 other prs of pants - 2 trousers and 2 jeans, so lots of insurance.

I can understand why you would want to take them cos that outfit is gorgeous. I personally would only take one white pair of pants, but as a carryon traveller I would not be packing 7 pants for 10 days. I would try to restrict myself to 3 and would feel like I had "failed" if I decided to take 4. This will be my main decision when packing for Europe for nearly 6 weeks in June/July.

OMG, to die for outfit! Love the top and the jacket with the white pants! Do it, do it, do it. What can possibly happen, you're in Milan? I hear they have the occasional clothes shop there ;-). Worse comes to worse, you have to shop. Be strong, lol!

Carolbee, I agree 7 sounds like a lot, but I'm a packer extraordinaire (no false modesty here), and I think I can get this all in a carry on. we'll see.
Anna and Cindy - thank you for the links! From what I saw and read - all shades of white are acceptable. Just go easy on the brights.
Neel, Dashielle, Kiwichik and Carla - thanks for the support - lief's too short to worry about the dirt. And as you mention Dashielle, I think there are a few stores in Milan that could help me out

I'm a pro! They wear lot of whites in Milan, all seazons, and your outfit with that killer tee and jacket it's a gem! Why not showing it off there, it's a warm spring already in the EU!

I say take them if you have the room. They look amazing on you. My jeans always get dirty when traveling, especially in cities, but that's to be expected. It sounds like you have plenty of backups - go for it!

I barely skimmed over the other replies but saw some naysayers. Did I miss the part where you said you'll be camping at a death metal festival and expect rain all week? If not...pffft, haters gonna hate, as Anna says. Milan is civilized. They have running water! I guess travel is a really frightening thing for a lot of people.

If you have room in your shopping luggage, and happen to be at a newsstand that has them ...the Marfy pattern catalogs make a delightful coffee-table fashion souvenir.

Absolutely gorgeous.I cannot get over how perfect this looks on you. It will be perfect for Milan albeit the washing issue.
