I don't think I have any particular search patterns. Although the other day I searched "cropped white denim vest" and ended up mostly with denim jackets, so I eventually gave up.

Search terms are my bread and butter workwise but for clothes I'm more of a browser. Although I did lots of "pleated skirt midi" and "asymmetric jumper" searches recently.

I'm guessing Angie doesn't need to search because she is actually IN the shops all the time!

Angie, that's fantastic! I didn't even realize they were touring. I'll have to keep an eye out and look up if they will come nearby. I remember seeing them with Erasure in the 1980s, and WOW! They both put on excellent shows!

What a great question. Yours and Brooklyn's search terms sound precisely right for you.

I am not sure I ever search for anything in this way...probably because of the online shopping situation in Canada. I tend to go first to the stores that I know will deliver and take returns for free / and those that "get" my body type -- and then just look at what they have. If anything. And if they don't, I'm pretty much out of luck.

But if I'm looking for something in particular that I have seen on someone else and love, I might type the name of it along with "canada" into the search engine to see if I can source it.

Interesting! I don't think I search for adjectives nearly as much as designers or particular items. I am more likely to see it then research than look for it.

Well now, this is deep. I have never broken my style down into elements like these. I think more in terms of persona. Mostly I search for designers and seasons, to see what's up. And visit shop sites and browse by clothing type. Have to have a think.

I am typically on a mission looking to purchase one item, so will usually search one description at a time until I have found what I'm looking for. That said, "silver", "gold" ,"metallic" and "moto" have all been on my radar more than once the last few months.

I will periodically type "teal" or "floral" into the search box at Nordstrom or other sites and look at the new stuff that comes up.

I am another one that doesn't search for clothes online. I do what Lisa does. Look up book titles. For fun. Old movies.
It is a good thing I can't order much online. I would have to go back to work.

Most of my searches are professional and about medication adverse effects, or interesting complexities in treatment that one of the fellows encounters and that I want to address in my teaching.

My next most common search is for the spelling of a word. I am not a gifted speller even though I read a lot. My grammar could use help also, right? Then I would say I search for books by title or category, or for the definition of a specific word in a book that I am reading.

When I shop online, I most often search for designers and brands I know who's items fit me well. I have learned over time which ones work best. On occasion I will do a more general search using general item type (i.e. Dress, blouse, sandals, sweater, coat, etc.) or using color or material. I try not to get too specific when I use this strategy because I have found some unexpected and wonderful new items and brands.

It's rare that I narrow my search to looking for grey leather belt, or fuschia dress, etc. When I have that type of gap, I find brick and mortar shopping a better approach.

Okay, I know you're asking about shopping search terms. Otherwise mine would include terms like Scottie pinwheel (search that term - you won't regret it!). Anyway, here are the ones I can think of:

Plaid, Tie dye, Western, Zigzag, Grey, Navy, Silver, Turquoise, Utility, Military, Poncho, Chambray

Seasonally, I obsessively search on down, wool, boots, sandals, sleeveless, linen.
