YAY!!!! SO HAPPY!!!

That's great Scarlet!

WUNDERBAR!

Scarlet, so glad you had success with your hair. No more bad hair days for you.

Thank you ladies, you are all so sweet. Hubby even cracked one sleepy eye open as I was heading out and said (in tone of disbelief) You look good! Now I just have to figure out if I will still trust this hairdresser. I am seriously considering going astray.

Good for you!

Go astray. You have to trust your hair stylist. Taylor - we want you to do our hair too

Scarlet --

So glad to catch this happier ending.

Q for you: is your hairdresser cutting your hair when dry?

When my hair [coarse + wavy] was longer, cutting it wet was no biggie; when I went vaguely 20s bob one "cut as normal" convinced me things had to change. [Because I looked like George Washington, sob!]

I think once a C/W-haired person gets those short pieces, length-when-dry and direction of wave can't be guesstimated when wet. If she's cutting dry ALREADY, I'd move on...but if cutting wet I'd give her another chance.

[Mine does a first-pass cut when dry, then touches up when wet.]

Good luck either way!

Huh, very interesting, Vix. She cuts wet and then touches up dry. I have never had anyone cut my hair dry. Maybe we need a coarse, wavy, wild hair support thread.

Scarlet -- I'd be there, for sure.

I know NaturallyCurly.com has been mentioned tons on recent hair threads -- lots of "dry cut" folks over there so you can probably read up on it if interested.

Thanks for the tip, Vix. I was checking out that website this morning since I noticed it has been referred to a couple times. Frankly though, it sent me running. Curls, they are just way too complicated.
Surprisingly my girlfriends spontaneously praised my 'do today, blown yesterday per Taylor's instructions, slept on, and re-stimulated with texturizing paste. hmm. I guess it just doesn't feel like "me" yet.

Ha -- yes, I can only handle the site in small doses. Their emails are a good way to get the "cheat sheet" articles/tips.

Glad you had a good hair day, no matter how unexpected.

Sad to say I have not mastered what product to use when the dew point is above/below blah de blah so my hair still calls the shots and I just follow, ha.

I wish I could see the pictures, but I guess you removed them. I'm not quite sure what you mean by "hat hair," but I'm glad you figured out how to style it!

I have very thick, curly hair, and I just got a very, very short cut - shorter than in my profile pic - and I'm experiencing a similar discontent. I wanted a 20's bob, but I almost feel like I have a Princess Leia thing going on each side of my head with all the tight curls. I know it's not that bad, but that's what it feels like! Bah!

Tarzy, I re-exposed the photos--us wild-haired people have to stick together. I hope you find peace with your cut. I think for me things just go terribly wrong when the short layers get too short.
