Rebekah! Is this your first WIW? You look great and I'm drooling over those boots. I'd never even heard of Sebago and I must learn more.

I agree - when I first watched the movie I was so enchanted by Marion and was sorry she wasn't in the sequels.
This is not originally what I'd planned to wear but the orange skirt with the yellow purse was inspired by the letters. Of course there had to be a safari jacket to enhance the sense of adventure.

So fun to see all of the inspired outfits!

I didn't vote for this movie poster - and it probably shows in my outfit. It felt very blah - but passable. I started out this morning with the khakis rolled and scrunched to my knees and some lace up flat ankle boots, but it was too cold to have my legs bare - so I unrolled the khakis and tucked them into some calf-high boots. My favorite item in this outfit is the vintage Coach cross-body bag! I tried using my i-phone to take the pics so the quality isn't all that great - missing my regular camera!

Wow - such FABULOUS interpretations! I absolutely love how all of your outfits relates to the theme and yet all are so individual as well. YLF!!!
Fab looks, everyone! It's super fun to see everyone's safari takes; so many common types of elements, yet we all still stay nicely true to our own styles. Inspiring!

Here's my outfit, decidedly not safari. The top thing that strikes me about this poster is how rich it is: color, texture, character, story. Details in my WIW post for the day

This was the hardest one for me, since I only have one button down, and it wasn't right for this challenge. I'm really feeling the need for that perfect chambray shirt! Tried some on about 3 weekends ago but only one fit ( and it fit perfectly) but it had the weirdest fading or whiskering...feeling the need for a leather jacket more and more as well...went for Indy's professorial look, sans the bow tie with natural colours and interesting textures. Referenced animal/snakeskin in the print of the shirt.

RW print top over brown cami
Talbots tweed jacket
NWD brown cotton skinnies
Locale boots
Hat on loan from DH

WOW!! Not one interpretation the same and what an assortment of outfits! From manly tomboy to girly girl, both in dressy and casual renditions. My word! I can see those personalities and style personas come through in the outfits. So much fun!!
So much greatness here. I loved them all. (Davies you must give me that jacket please)
If I had a brown leather jacket (on my list) it would have been a no brainer for me, in the end I had several options and in the morning scramble I came up with this.
I was going for Indy (adjusted for work) but I was set on my Python booties (Snakes? Why'd it have to be Snakes??!!) and my brown pants are too long for them so I ended up with khaki pants. My Nexx blouse has the safari-like flap pockets. And then the jacket ended up Khaki too. I added a brown belt (my Whip?) But in the end I became Belloq (sans tie and hat of course).
But it was fun and the SE Petty's actually saved themselves today by not being painful.

Wow, I am enjoying these outfits so much! And it is so much fun to see people who rarely post outfits (L'Abeille, waving at you!!!) and those who I've never seen post an outfit before! (rebekah)

Marley, Jeanne, both of you look stunning. Aida, Day Vies, you were alike in looking for that pop of colour! Karie, Rae, both beautiful and work-ready in those neutrals.
I was going to use Angie's formula of combat pants, white top, and red accents plus my fedora. Instead I spied this recently thrifted F21 knit moto and thought
I would begin my story with that.
  • The faded and dirty color of the jacket made it seem as if it's been on many adventures.
  • Then I added the Leith pants since it's got that slouchy comfy vibe that would be perfect for traveling.
  • I left the leg zippers partly open to drape over my dark brown ankle boots which are stylish but still comfortable enough to run to safety or dodge enemy fire.
  • The jacket is a smidge short for pants, so I layered a sleeveless grey tiered blouse under it, which would be dressy enough without the jacket if I needed to crash a cocktail party in order to hide from my pursuers.
  • The thick gold necklace is a souvenir of my last successful treasure hunt.
  • Lastly, my leather wrap bracelet is my version of a whip, but mine's studded.
Oh I had fun with this modern day style hunter look! Thanks Ornella for organizing this!

I am truly in awe of these amazing outfits and interpretations. Each one had its own wow factor!
everybody looks so great! Yes Nadya this is my first wiw, I could not pass up the fun on this week! I am much better behind the camera than in front...I figured I'd do a "real" introduction" one of these days--pics of the closet & all (but I need a full length mirror first-11 months in my new house and no mirror!)

I really love all the details: the pops of color, textures & especially reading the inspiration bits

Marley-I almost added a vintage coach cross body-yours is so perfectly classic!
Aida -I love the nails! I dont wear polish--but I appreciate the art & love to do it on others!

cant wait to see everyone over the next few days....
Loved all the takes on this first one - can't wait for tomorrow:)
Yay, Rebekah for posting - welcome!

And AJ - high five!! We both wore our Leiths. LOVE your interpretation and especially your story.
Okay, my only adventure today was going out to buy a Powerball ticket, since this was the first day it was introduced here in California! My other adventurous stop was to Joann Fabrics, so the combination of khaki and style makes the happiness factor of this outfit not even register on the scale, which means it was pretty low.

Would I wear this on a regular day? NO. Did I brave it and wear it out in public? Yes. Did I have fun? Of course, I did! It's all fun when I know the YLF community is everywhere, IN THE ENTIRE WORLD, having fun and we're all doing the same thing in our own special way. Hopefully, I'll be invigorated with greater creativity with each new movie poster.

I am just so impressed with the interpretations being shown here! What a phenomenal group of women we have here. So many different looks and each one wonderful.

Ralph Lauren taupe pants (one size too small, but they were a gift)
Nexx cream silk shirt
Banana Republic boots of canvas and leather, very old (I considered wearing my darker brown Stuart Weitzman boots, like Angie's, but thought these were more rugged.)
Straw hat (not worn)
Ralph Lauren leather jacket (worn, because it was windy and cold outside)

Ready for tomorrow!

So many wonderful outfits! I'm overwhelmed.
Nadya, I love the colors together--you must wear these again!
Day Vies, stunning outfit! Just gorgeous on you.
Aida, I think that's my favorite of yours yet.
Sona, your outfit is great, and I love your narrative!
Shevia, you look adorable. Those flats are so very cheeky and cool, slingback oxfords!
And on the first day already, I've been inspired to wear a combination that I would not have thought to put together!
I am awfully late here, as I had to run in a mad dash this morning and did not get a chance to post my take on this. Nevertheless, it is still 90 minutes till midnight, so I have just barely made it. I don't own anything tan/beige/khaki as those colors are very unflattering on me, so I went for olive green The outfit is a slight variation of the "urban safari" look I posted Earle based on Angie's ensemble.

Also, I can nit begin to explain just how impressed I am with everyone's takes. This is so much fun!

This is so much fun and I can hardly wait for tomorrow. Everyone here is so creative!

L'Abeille:: you are a sport for working around the work-wear limitations to come up with a theme outfit. All the little details you thought of are fantastic. I'm especially loving the trench - together with fedora for a perfect outcome.

Karie :: thanks for a sleek take on Indiana Jones. Great moves too

Rebekah :: I also loved your thought process and attention to detail, rumpled blouse and snakes in particular. I think this shade of blue looks lovely on you. Nice to see you - welcome to the addictive world of WIWs

Rae :: I was expecting manspiration outfit from you, but you always have great surprises up your sleeve. I love everything, the skirt length in particular, no need to feel juts OK but fab about the whole thing.

Day Vies :: you manage to look ladylike no matter what you wear. You and rae both wear skirts, both look feminine, yet have completely different vibe. Amazing. I'm loving bright jacket over the darker clothes underneath, it works really well on you. Can I steel the skirt please

Marley :: Your favourite may be the bag only, but my favourite is everything: the colors, denim and khakis, tucking action, button on the shirt, boots bookending the fab hair beautifully. It's a treat to see you and if this is what you felt for as 'blah', what are you preparing for the inspirations which you did vote for?

Aida :: playing with textures makes my heart sing. And you are right - this is what glamorous adventurer looks like.

Runcarla :: Indy's professorial look being your inspiration is brilliant and I love your take on it.

Jeanne :: I was secretly expecting a lot more of those booties in today's outfits, so thanks for your contribution. I think you achieved a great look reflecting the adventurous inspiration an the needs of the workplace.

AJ :: you stunned me with every aspect of your outfit so much that I don't have a chance to miss your trademark fedora. It is absolutely impossible to say which one is more creative than the other, but I know that the most fun is the necklace… 'souvenir of my last successful treasure hunt'. Genius

Vicky :: OMG. You look ready for safari and quite a glamorous take on it. The way the scarf is neatly tied gives this outfit such polish and the hat… no, not just hat… everything is just beautiful.

Tanya :: I haven't seen the previous outfit you mention, so everything is new to me and it looks fab. I especially love the vest and the oxfords with darker laces.

Btw, keep posting on this thread if you have contributions ladies (Una, I'm looking at you), regardless of the schedule, nobody is late.

So enjoyed browsing through this creative post. Can't wait to see what you come up with today!
Incredible interpretations here, and the whole gamut is represented! Love seeing the mix of color, texture, dressiness, silhouette, vibe... All fab ^^
These are all so much fun! I missed out on Monday but last night I donned my "Raiders" outfit for tap class! Not very inspiring and I don't think the colors work all that well, but at least I will have a full set of PPC outfits, anyway!

White shirt: Don't remember
Cognac leather jacket: Cole Haan
Olive cargo pants: GAP
"Croc" cross-body bag: Dooney & Bourke
Gold sandals: Don't remember

Whadayamean "not very inspiring", lady? Colors, texture, cargo action? If that's not Indiana Jones SoCal tap dance way, I don't know what is

I am so happy you posted here as well *mwah*
