Well, my custom-made cocktail dress will be ready on time for the next of my four weddings, which takes place next week. It's about time I gave you all an update on where things stand, since you've all been directly involved in how it played out and are all welcome to contribute further input!!

So after consulting you guys on the colour of the frock, I emailed Tania with the overwhelming turquoise consensus as well as the prototype that San picked out a few weeks ago. She wrote back saying she'd acquire fabric in the right colour and keep that overall design in mind, though she asked for and got permission to make tweaks as she saw fit. I had confidence in her designing skills and didn't want to encroach on her territory too much.

So last week I went in and saw the initial work she had done. She acquired a lovely turquoise silk that's sort of sheer as well as a lining in a slightly darker green. She assured me that the combination of the two produced a lovely turquoise shade. Here's a pic of the two fabric components (main fabric on the right, lining on the left):

IN that first fitting she had already made a general skirt and top based on my measurements, but she refined those measurements and showed me what she had in mind for the design. I liked it and gave her the green light.

Today I went back for another fitting, and now I'm able to show you how the dress is going to look. The length of the skirt and the sleeves haven't been finalized (this shot shows the dress with only one sleeve on), but you'll get the idea. The halter-esque styling and cutouts in the skirt were all Tania, and I have to admit I really like it so far, but I welcome input and suggestions from you all! Changes are still possible!
