Yikes - buying a bikini online

I have been eyeing the Basta Surf reversible bikinis for a few months now. But the price has kept me away. I just now decided to heck with it! I got it on sale, and 10% off coupon on top, but it's still over $100. I'm trying to wrap my head around how my $30 suits don't quite fit and if this one does, it's well worth it. Plus, it's 2 suits in 1 since it's reversible. Or 4, if I mix and match.
This brand was on sale for almost half this much at Singer22 last month, but it was non returnable, and I'm really really trying to not get myself stuck with things that don't work. Better to pay twice as much if it does, and not at all if it does not work! (fingers crossed)

I agree that it's well worth the extra cost if you can return it. At least for me, swimsuits are a tricky fit. It is really cute, and I hope it works!

Suz, if it works out, I bet you'd be the size down from me. I got Small top and Med bottoms (since I can) from Revolve. I like that the top is bungee backed and no knots from ties. When I kayak back to back with BF, knots get to feeling irksome between us.

It's here. Gulp, here goes. I saw the medium top came back into stock and I have it on order, too. This is a small top and medium bottoms. I have no illusions that I will look like the model or anything, but want my middle aged body to at least be presentable in it lol. I think the pale pink side needs to wait for more of a tan (speaking of which, ignore my runner's tan that makes me look like I'm wearing skin colored bike shorts lol. Oh, and my undies peeking out of the bottoms) Pic 4 is probably the most realistic, proportion-wise. I took it at closer to chest height. The others are from below, around knee high, and I think that skews things.

I wish my middle aged body looked like your middle aged body!

How do you feel in it? I agree the lighter side needs to wait for a tan but the fit seems pretty good to me.

It feels so thin! I do like that the bottoms don't create a muffin top/roll above the elastic like so many do on me. I'm not sure on the top. I could put inserts from another suit in it if the thinness bugs me I guess. Or maybe the size up will feel different. This would be my lay around looking glamorous suit, not lap swimming or rafting the Truckee river

I'm speechless -- you look better than the model. In all iterations. Keep! And I think the small top looks good -- not too snug.

You look great it in.. I especially love the darker side. And I was thinking the same thing.. you live in Florida, we get a lot of wear out of swimwear, as opposed to say leather and cashmere.. the things I'm naturally drawn to. It look great on you, and you WILL wear it alot, so well worth the price I think.

I guess in my head I was wondering if it was worth the $100+ but if I found it in my usual haunts for under $50, I'd snap it up, no questions asked. So I guess that is my answer right there, huh? Thanks!
(I do want to try the med top just for comparison since it is on the way already, but I think this is probably my right size)

Love it on the dark pink side! Especially with the contrasting straps. I think the light pink washes you out a bit, but with a tan it could be a whole different story. Definitely looks like it fits well.

You look absolutely fantastic. I, too, prefer the darker pink, but like you said, a tan could completely change that. It looks like it fits perfectly, and you really do look better than the model in it!

Chiming in to say it looks really good - light pink with a darker tan maybe, but the bottoms look pretty perfect in fit, and the neckline of the top is really super flattering. A home run IMO.

Another vote for the darker pink side since it works beautifully with your current skintone and thus supports sunscreen use.

love it!! - I should be so lucky to look that good in a bikini!!! - I agree that the dark pink suits you more - and I vote that the small top is a good fit - nothing worse than a bathing suit top that is too big!! - remember they almost always stretch out when wet!! - KEEP!!
