Today my Mum turned 76. Seven years ago the unthinkable happened, she had a massive stroke which left her paralysed down one side. So she went from being a very youthful, active woman, to being hospitalised for months and left with a significant disability.
Through this, she has maintained her grace, dignity, sense of humour and her faith in God. For me, she is the definition of a strong and beautiful person. We were blessed to have these additional years with her, but losing her independence has been so very hard on her.
Because it is summer, we had an ice-cream cake and I wore one of my favourite summer dresses, just a simple white shift dress.
The ice-cream cake was as good as it looks!
