I'm still stalking those Dansko Veda shoes for work. I love the purple on Amazon but they're full price at $70. http://www.amazon.com/Dansko-W.....=Veda+shoe The navy are just half that. They are, after all, just for work - but should I bite the bullet for the purple that pulls at me, or be sensible and give the navy a try?

Since the double amount is $70 I wouldn't have a problem paying twice the amount. I mean the difference is $35, and I know everyone's budget is different, but I don't think $35 will break ya if you love the purple. If it was $250 vs $500 then ya, it would have to be Love!

Hmm, that's tough. I guess since its a work item (i.e., part of your "uniform"), one could argue go for the less expensive one, and then you have $35 to spend on something else fun!

I am putting in a cautious nay vote.

I am nay-ing for two reasons:

1. You don't yet know (I don't think) exactly how well these are going to work for you. Until you know they are the perfect work shoe, why not go for the lower price (and save your pennies for something else?)

2. Navy and purple are really close. You could perhaps dye them purple.

OTOH, since I seem to be indecisive tonight, if purple would make you super happy to go to work, go for the full price!! You deserve the best for work!

I voted 'yay' for the purple love. They're going to be for work, which means you're going to wear them a lot - so why not have something that makes you smile every time you put them on? Also, they might make you enjoy your uniform more.

But even so, i would say go purple anyway. If they were more than $70 I might feel differently but i don't think $70 is too bad and since you're going to have to look at them quite a bit you might as well get something that makes your heart sing.

Okay, I looked at them and now I want to change my vote. Because the purple ones have the contrasty toe. Go for the purple. Go for broke!!!

Mo, are you sure you're good with these? I've seen them in person A LOT and they are a bit clunky especially with the big round white bumper toe. They can be cute in a playful way, but I personally don't love the look in any of the colors. Sorry!

But to answer your question, pay for what you love - you've learned that lesson before, right? So purple!

I actually prefer the Reeboks, Mo! Maybe not with skinnies. I think I have a poison eye for sneakers with skinnies though...

Yeah, that is the issue I'm dealing with - work shoes that will 'do' with skinnies. The Reeboks are fine under bootcuts.

Ooh, do tell! Work is a) on my feet for often 8 hours b) in snow country, so socks are a must and c) there are stairs (it's on 2 levels) so backless is not an option.

Okay, and do they have to be worn with all cuts of jeans? Skirts? Did you rule out the Dansko Ryders as too high heeled?

I'll be perfectly honest and say it's rare when I spend $100 or more on shoes @@ My Sorels, those Reeboks, and my Frye Julias are *it*.
My real only hole is to pair with skinnies at the moment. I can do my riding boots the very few times I don a skirt at work. But 99% of the time it's jeans or Dickie's Girl pants with some form of sneakers.

EDIT: I lie - the Sorels were on sale for under $75 now that I recall lol!

Ooh, I like the Jambus . . . probably more for casual wear though. Suede and salsa and beer and cheese and whatever else lands on my feet during a shift isn't such a swell combo hee hee.
I think I will stalk all weekend and see if my coveted purple Vedas go on sale.

If you spend a lot of time on your feet, and a lot of time at work, why not spend the money on pair that will make you happy every time you look down? Go for the purple. The Vedas have been on my radar for work for awhile, too. My PF Flyers don't have enough support for a full day of work.
I guess what I'm saying is....PURPLE!!

I can speak for comfort when it comes to Jambu. I have two pairs for casual wear and they are 10+ hour shoes for sure.

Have you tried those easytones? I found them hard to walk in.
You may find that you need two pairs of work shoes so you can switch off days. If I wear the same pair of shoes day after day, they wear out fast and they start to smell.
Start with the navy pair. if they are a great fit, you can get the purple and have two pairs of work shoes.

I am going to see if purple goes on sale this weekend. If purple go on sale, I'm pouncing! If not, I will try the navy on for size at the $35 and if they're a go, get the purple down the line, since time is of no consequence price wise.
I do fine in the Easytones, but that was before my ankle sprain. I have only worn them a handful of times, for 5 hour shifts at the golf course, since then. I agree that switching up shoes is much better, and I do. This will be purely for the skinny jean conundrum. I have 3 bootcut pants and jeans I use for uniform, and a straight leg. By contrast, I now have more skinny jeans than anything else in the closet.

No way would I wear *any* danskos with skinny jeans. Not a good look. They are way too clunky. It would look very odd.

No worries, I just wanted to point out that an entire brand (Uggs, Dansko, etc) can't be summarily dismissed. I see plenty of hideous Dansko outfits around here! The professional clogs with skinny capris in summer is a real cringe inducer.

I put in a cautious "nay", because it's not clear to me whether you'd wear this outside of work.

Although I typically cheer for "wear clothing that makes you feel fabulous!", the $35 you save can be put towards some non-work threads that could be genuinely fun, instead of simply making the best of a work uniform.

That having been said, I'll retract my vote in a heartbeat if you think you'll wear these (purple, squeeeeee!!!) Danskos outside of work. A gal has to feel good about herself, ya know?

Anyways, I have the slip-on version of those Danskos. I don't much like Danskos for work, tho admittedly I've been wearing my green clogs to the bakery because my tennies need washing... Anyways, I do really like the canvas/rubber Danskos. I'd be willing to shell for the color of my choice.

On the other hand, $35 is a really really good price. Second thought, I don't think that can be beat.

See, Skitt, that is an example of unhelpful input. No offense directly, but we've been discussing constructive criticism lately and so I thought it was worth pointing out. I don't *want* to wear any sneakers with my skinnies, but I *have* to wear good shoes to work in - therefore I have to make the best of what I've got to work with. Here to fore I have done boots and ballet flats and gladiator sandals happily and successfully in my casual skinnies outfits on my own time. But that won't fly working long restaurant hours. Just to make it clear. Again, no offense, but I think I mentioned the uniform need several times.
And, no, my feelings are not hurt!

EDIT: had you offered up an alternative, less clunky, choice, *that* would have been most helpful! I am still on the look out and open to all suggestions.
