Would this bother you? (More boot woes)

I went back to get the boots I posted about on my earlier thread.

However, each pair had a line down the middle to varying degrees.

Upon further investigation, there is a seam down the middle on the inside but not the outside. I believe this is causing the line to appear. On some pairs there was another visible mark that ran from side to side around the toe area where another inside seam runs.

I liked these bc they were sleek but I guess by not having seams in the top of the shoe they still have to have them inside and this is causing some darkening.

I left them behind. Now I am pondering - going back for them if I can get over the line
- ordering same ones in USA to see if they have the line (a few bucks cheaper too)
- giving up on this model but seeking out same footbed/heel on diff design

Thoughts? Am I OCD? Is this ok? Could you live with it?

I think what else is going on here is that I'm driving myself nuts going in circles. Decided on them then went back and found this and now feel like I am back at square one. I know there's more boots in the world (and obviously this is a first world problem) but the time and effort I have to dedicate to finding them is running low.

I see them. I am OCD. It would make me not reach for them and I would be searching for an alternative even after I had these.

Wow. How bizarre. Although I doubt anyone will notice while they're on your feet, just knowing it was there would drive me a little nuts.

I don't think I would have noticed if you didn't point it out--I had to look pretty closely even then to see it. It's pretty safe to say that I would never notice that if I ran into you in person. However, if it bothers you, I would not get them. I will say that Pikolinos is one of my favorite brands and I find their boots the most comfortable of all of the brands in my closet! The distressing on the toe makes this more of a casual boot anyway and this line looks like it could be kind of a distressing. It wouldn't be a deal breaker for me. The color is gorgeous--that paired with the comfort would be enough for me to bring them home. And, you are right, the perfect cognac-ish brown is hard to find!

Thanks kelly girl. I am gonna have to ponder it. One pair had less markings so if I do go back I hope that pair is still there.

I probably would not have noticed it at the store when trying them on. On the otherhand, after discovering it I may have returned them. But I do not think it is noticeable, but once you know it is there you see it al lthe time-It is a little weird.

An idea -something I would do-search under the brand and name of the boots, and other boots by this brand on a site that has ratings like Amazon. See if anything like this is mentioned about uneven dying or such.-that is just me though, am always curious about things like this.

I don't think it says great things about the quality of the construction of anything if the behind the scenes details are unintentionally visible and I wouldn't be able to un-see this.

If something bothers you, no matter how small or invisible to others, you shouldn't get it.

I agree with the others that if it bothers you enough, you may not want to get them, but to me it just adds to the character. The fact that the toes are darker makes it feel to me like there should be some uneven darkening in places. I kind of like the different tones from the toes and the lines. It makes them seem less shiny/new and a little more rustic/interesting. But that is something I tend to prefer in general, so that is looking at it through my filter...

I like those boots even more with the close up shots and seeing them on your feet and I would not have noticed the line. But if you have noticed it and don't like it I think you are right to be concerned about it. It may become more prominent with wear - obviously wearing shoes puts seams under stress. So I think unless they are a sensational price I would look for an alternative.

I don't think I would have noticed if I saw you wearing them in person. But I completely understand your reluctance because I sometimes notice things that bug me that other people seem to not be able to see.

I get what others are saying about the line working OK with the more rustic look of the boot, but yeah, it would bug me. And I thought about the "getting worse with time" thing mentioned upthread as well.

Sorry about the hunt being such a PITA -- I don't enjoy shoe shopping either so you have my first-world sympathy!

Now I'm intrigued as to the cause of the line.
How can you have no seam on outside but one on inside, unless it is an inside lining or something? And why would that darken the finish?

I am totally OCD about my clothes. However, this would not bother me unless it was visible on one boot and not the other. Those boots aren't really meant to be sleek...see the color variation? They're meant to look a bit broken in imho.

Petites - it is much more visible on one shoe than the other. See the pics. I agree that the shoes are slightly rustic but I don't think this line smack on the middle adds character. There is a lining inside w a seam as I explained. By not having any outer seams I do believe they're the sleeker option of the ones from this brand that I posted a day or two ago. Def not the most sleek boot ever but of the ones I was considering they were sleeker due to not having top or front seams.

To me, this is a question of aesthetics, and what you like. I think the line adds character, which ordinarily I would think was pretty cool. Or it would... if the lines were the same depth of shading on both shoes. I'd want it to look deliberate, but like a manufacturing flaw. That's a deal-breaker, in my opinion.

It is my opinion, as well, that there is nothing wrong with being picky and particular about what you bring into your wardrobe. Doesn't Angie say so?

No - it would not bother me at all. In fact, I would not have noticed any lines at all if you hadn't mentioned it - and even then, I really had to look very, very closely in order to see a faint line. If they tick off all of your boxes, I'd stop obsessing about them and welcome them into my wardrobe!

This would bother me too. On the photo of looking at the boots in the mirror, the lines are not visible (so possibly not visible to others). However, as they are visible to you (from the shot looking down at your feet) then it would bother me. Hopefully a perfect pair is to be found elsewhere - this is something that I would not compromise on.

The line wouldn't bother me. It's faint and seems to add to the character of the boot. However, if it bothers you, then it's a deal breaker.

That wouldn't bother me because to me the lines appear as natural shading. I think they add character, especially with it being a rather casual style.

I think because of the rustic character of the boots, it wouldn't bother me..I wouldn't have even noticed if you hadn't pointed it out. I'm wondering if the difference would soften as the boot was worn....but if it bugs you then it will always bug you so I would wait to find another pair.
