Would this bother you?

I bought this vest on Cyber Monday, from Macy's. It is Macy's house brand, Charter Club. The regular price is $80 and I paid $25. I just got it yesterday and it fits okay. I just noticed the plaid along the zipper is not exactly centered. Am I being too picky?

Ah, I had to look for a few seconds to see it. That doesn't bother nearly as much as when the horizontal patterns in plaid don't match up at the center or at the seams. The question is, does it bother YOU? Do you notice it less unzipped, and which way are you more likely to wear it? If you will always see it when you wear it, I'd say return.

I agree with Janet's response. That would not bother me as I tend to wear these vests open anyway. But if it bothers you, then it needs to go back. Maybe they will make an exchange?

I am totally OCD about (all!) things being centered and symmetrical; however, with the zipper running between the off columns and the horizontal lines matching, I think the eye tends to forgive the lack of centering. If it bugs you though, back it goes!

It would not bother me. I am not sure what you mean by the plaid not being centered. However, as Janet says if it bothers you then that is important.

Um, yeah, things like that bother me. I am trying to be better about it but I am what I am. So, if it bugs YOU enough, I'd try to exchange it.

Hmm, it took me a while to see what you were referring to. I don't know that I would have noticed it. Do you have the option to wear it for a day and see how you feel in it, but still be able to return it if you are still bothered afterward?

This is almost imperceptible to anyone looking. The "bother" factor for me would depend on whether it made up for it in other ways. For instance, if it was a bit "meh" to begin with, it probably would. But if I loved it for other reasons, it almost certainly wouldn't. Does that make sense?

I can see, but just because I looked at close, to your request. Think it will not be seen IRL-but will you wear it zipper closed, or mostly open?

I only saw it when I turn you pic sideways. So i would have never noticed myself. If I like the vest otherwise, this wont bother me.

I agree with everything Janet said. The plaid not lining up horizontally would be a dealbreaker fo me, but I didn't even notice the issue you meant here at first glance.That said, I know how you can't unsee some issues once you've noticed them and if it bothers you every time you look at it I vote return.

I can't see what you are saying and it makes me feel bad that I am missing something I should see because I am very picky.
If you see something that bothers you at first, it will always bother you so it is probably best to exchange the vest.

I had to look very closely to figure it out. If you were wearing it open, I don't think anyone would notice and likely you wouldn't either. If it bothers you, send it back. It wouldn't be a deal breaker for me.

I also think if it is as dark as in the first photo it will be even less noticeable. Worn open --- or even closed -- I doubt it would be apparent to most eyes. It is not like wallpaper -- we see it on a human body, which already has curves and asymmetries.

As someone who tries on several of the same item to choose the "best" one, I empathize with you but I don't think anyone would notice even if you were wearing it closed.

Sometimes things like this are much more visible in the mirror than in real life, which is useful for photographic purposes but even if you were having your picture taken the vest would never present itself flat.

It's pretty cute actually.
