Oh Wow, what a fabulous idea!!

Can you tweet your conversations and shopping expeditions for those of us who wouldn't be able to make it ?!?! LOL

If by any chance I would be able to come, I'd go anywhere LOL US, Europe, Asia...

YEA!!!! I'm with Khris on Vegas...everyone would have to travel..fair enough and FUN!!!

San Fransisco also:)

Sorry to be a sourpuss, but I actually prefer to keep this as a silly dream and not as a realistic possibility because there is no way it would be realistic for ME The thought of being stuck here with a dead forum while everyone else is off in Hong Kong having a ball is very depressing!

The ONLY way I would be able to even entertain the notion of a real YLF convention would be if it took place in NY or Boston. Maybe Washington DC if Tanya is willing to have a roommate!

But to plan an actual location , it could get a larger group of those who have never met, as well as some who have together again:)

Chicago is one of my favorite cities to visit--great food, a really nice shopping district, and generally gorgeous weather in May, June, or September, so I vote to hold it there. Other than that, I'd just like a time and place where the weather was nice. I guess I could try to make it wherever people wanted to plan it, as long as I had the money.

Oh, this is so much fun! New York, Chicago, Boston and Seattle would be my top picks! How about all you young mothers on the forum - when is it easiest for you to travel? I know it's summertime for me.

Maya, I'd probably be on the dead forum with you. Us unemployed girls have to stick together.

But the idea of Chicago or SF excites me!

I guess it would be fun to take over the whole forum with you Marianna

What a fun idea!

Selfishly, Seattle or Vancouver (BC) would be terribly convenient, and having it in June or July would increase the chances of having wonderful, warm weather. I've always wanted to visit San Francisco, too.

There are areas of the east coast that I'd love to see, but the expense of travel would probably rule it out unless I'm able to coordinate it with a longer trip. Non-US locations are out of the question for me due to cost, unfortunately.

Ok, apparently hectic work and excitement cause a slight slackage of practicality

NY would be fantabulous but definitely the more expensive option. SF would be great, but again closer to downtown would make accommodations more expensive. In my opinion, Chicago in early summer seems like the best option. Downtown Chicago offers fab hotels at great prices and great restaurants (and my favorite pub ;-)) just a short distance from the Miracle mile. I LUURV Chicago. Spent a whole week there by myself last year on work and I loved and cherish every memory

Of course, I don't know anything about Seattle but it would personally be no problem. We had a trip to India planned for early summer which would have made London convenient, but they've been postponed for now.

I vote Chicago (hometown girl REPRESENT, yo), Seattle (so pretty and chock full of so many of you) or my favorite pick...Vegas!!!

Cheap hotels, cheap flights, so many shopping possibilities! Plus, as long as we stick $5 in the slots from time to time, the drinks are free. Where is the downside, I ask you?

Plus it's full of the tackiest dressers on earth. We would all have a field day, and you know it.

After reading what Angie said about Hong Kong in January, I vote for there.
I'll go anywhere it's held though.
Vegas really is a good place for a convention. It's built for them.

Oh my gosh - if YLF picked Chicago I'd actually be able to attend!! Oh yes, yes, yes!!! I know lots of other cities are more cosmopolitan, etc. but Chicago actually IS a world class city (some begging here!) and has more than enough to see for a few days. (I'd actually prefer to go to a lot of other places in the world, but I'd have to pass until we are not paying college tuition. . . )

If this doesn't happen in 2010, I'd still be totally up for a reconnaissaance visit in June or July 2010 anyway Anyone else??

Maya - I have taken the Megabus to Chicago from Minneapolis more than once (and only when I get $1 seats!!) Does it run from NY to Chicago??

I noticed that no one mentioned Miami. I don't know that Miami is a hotbed of fashion, but I think it's much less expensive than some of the other places mentioned and if you go just after or just before the high season you get good hotel/flight deals and pleasant weather.

I think Miami is almost as easy to get to as NYC.

My best suggestion though is that we have this rendezvous in Raleigh, North Carolina, USA. Way cheap accommodations (I have three extra bedrooms plus a sofa bed), good restaurants (for real!) and come Spring we'll have an H&M. What more could you possibly want?

Sara, I only know of the Megabus that runs from NY to Boston and NY to D.C. There is probably one that goes to Chicago. I'm not sure as I have never really thought about going to Chicago. Travel isn't the issue anyway. Flights are cheap within the US and I could easily save for that in just a few weeks (once I have a job I mean). It's everything else that runs up the bill. I couldn't afford to eat just one meal out every day, let alone 2 or 3. I certainly won't be able to afford a hotel!

I am so broke and have been so broke for my whole adult life that I don't even understand or have any concept of how people afford vacations at all, let alone ones that involve swanky hotels and fine dining. I don't mean to sound pitiful, but that is my reality. I had saved a lot of money after graduating, thinking once I get a job, I could use the money I saved towards something really special (like a vacation), but that plan quickly went to hell...

I would vote for Vancouver BC because it would give it an international feel while still be accessible from many points. It has nonstop flights from many places in Europe and Asia as well as the US east coast. And it would give us a slightly exotic shopping opportunity. Seattle of course would also work very well for me. We'd have to coordinate the city based on time of year for weather.

Oh, Yay Kristen, another vote for Vegas...for all the reasons you stated!!!

What happens in Las Vegas, stays in Las Vegas, eh?

Right, thinking like a global brand, what we need are four or five global locations connected by video conference (London, NY, LA, Melbourne)! Could be good, more likely chaos!

I don't think I'd be able to come either, though I appreciate Down under girls being considered in these deliberations. I don't think I could even make it to Melbourne, unless I jagged an economy flight. Singapore might be very slightly a possibility. I like Theresa's idea of tweeting it for us! That is probably a more realistic option

It might be smart to look into a few popular options like Seattle, Chicago and San Francisco, to see what costs might be. Do you think we could still do this in summer or fall 2010, or plan ahead for 2011?

summer 2010 might be hard for a lot of us planning-wise. For example, I'm already taking a holiday in July, so I'll have that expense plus a week away from work. I like to space out that sort of thing.

I'm in favor of stretching it out, giving all of us maximum time to plan and save. On the other hand, there nothing that says this has to be a one-time thing. Those who could attend something this summer could do that while the rest of us plan for next year (and fume with jealousy).

LOL - I would have miserable petty feelings about having to miss it and I know I'm not the only one, but such is life, eh?

Honestly though, I think even those of us with financial challenges could make a plan to work toward next spring or summer. Maya, I know it seems like an impossible dream at the moment, but don't be discouraged! Where there is a will there is a way. I have lived some of my impossible dreams and gotten myself through sometimes on sheer determination!

Maya, I am with you on financial issue. I would need it to be closer to Boston. Travel, meals and hotel would be difficult to pull off. I would consider it and make the effort but also need to be realistic. I have to say Vegas would not get my vote- sorry Kristen! However,
I would support any decision that the group agrees on, it seems impossible for everyone to agree!

Seattle! But I am bias.. I have family there and visit as often as I can.. although so far I have been too shy to speak up when in town..

Oh, such fun! Lots of good suggestions. I'm just hoping that wherever it's held I'll be able to attend. I'd love to meet everyone.

Wow! Such great responses and lots of enthusiasm and honest feedback. Good stuff. I have to go, but I'll be back.

If this happens I could probably make it to Chicago and possibly other places with enough planning. It sounds too good to miss!

Ok, so Marianna, Anne, Jean, and I will crash the forum and throw lots of wild parties while our parents are away!

Jean, I'm with you on the Vegas front. It is one of my least favorite options mentioned so far.

Maya count me in for crashing the forum with a wild party!! The only way i'll afford to join the visit will be if i win the lottery!! x
