To get dressed yesterday, I did a quick workshop with a skirt I recently sized into. It isn’t really new; I got it the same time as the b/w sunburst one. It’s got good twirl, but even just standing still, the pleats and thick material make it stand out from my body. After two weeks of double plaid, I wanted to try multiple florals. TL/DR 3x florals works, but not with a coat. I think I made a volume-over-volume, but you tell me.

The white is much more prominent in pix than I expected; I want to try it sometime with all-white and the metallic boots. For Christmas Day in my parents’ very warm house, I’ll probably wear it with the red sweater & red sweater tights.

But those looks are for later. Right now, I wanted to play with the floral patterns of the skirt and cape, and the red sleeves were too much, so I switched to black. As much as I like the triple floral look with the metallic boots, once I put the raincoat on (the red puffer is too short for the cape), there was too much going on, so I went with black boots to ground the outfit and simplify the leg line. That’s right: knee-high lace-up boots with buckles on top and lug soles to simplify things. If/when I get the boots—black or brown, similar to LaPed’s Thursdays and Runcarla’s black and red pairs—that are on my list, I think they’d work best. The end result was a lot of volume, between the skirt and the cape. but I thought it came together pretty well.

The bike pic was taken by an American I’d just heard on his phone. I asked him to take a pic of me being a good little Berliner with my bike. He didn’t seem to mind.

Your analysis please. Is my son right that the skirt should be burned? What do you think of these looks? Do you have any other suggestions for it? Thanks for playing!
