Work Clothes and Climbing Mountains

Hello, esteemed Fabbers. I am one of the extremely privileged, having been able to continue working during the pandemic.
As a nursing professor, I have been challenged to bring my cohort through their final eight weeks using only virtual simulation and virtual electronic health records. I am able to coach them through the realities of developing clinical judgement after working for nearly 30 years in acute care myself. It has not been easy, and I am also aware, again, of my privilege in being able to continue working.
I meet frequently online and face to face with students both in groups and individually, so I try to look as they remember me from campus. They are worried and stressed about the future, so I think it is my responsibility to reassure them while keeping expectations real. Bonus photos of climbing a mountain on Easter and finding something cool at the top.

Catherine- it is so great to see you. I’ve been thinking of you a lot. And I certainly wish that you were one of my daughter’s professors. Tele-learning is not easy on either side (she is In a big Neuroscience Test right now so I’m being very quiet).

I am curious - do you really have to wear masks while climbing mountains alone? We must wear masks here, but I believe there is an exercise - if no one else is around - exception.

Shevia, we did meet a few people on the lower part of the trail, so pulled our masks up then.

Great outfits, and thanks for sharing your story with us. In my area (and others no doubt) many doctor/nursing students who were in their last year of training have been drafted into Covid19 care at hospitals with some sort of early graduation....and it's the teachers like you that are helping launch them into this incredibly stressful situation. So you are part of a group that is not quite first responders but right behind them, supporting them. xxxooo
