Woke up totally sick of 90% of my summer clothing :(

Funny thing happened. I have been kinda struggling with finding warm weather looks that feel more 'me' since moving back this month. Seems only the purple shorts and some dresses fit the bill. I tried looking through some older photos of shorts looks and nothing really grabbed me. Sigh.
Luckily, the weather is on the verge of turning. Down to mid 80's this week and next month should only get cooler. I think I could get into wearing some of last year's tanks with my pants options.
Guess my shorts / skirts need an overhaul. Most are 3+ years old, so I can see why I now feel this way towards them. :/ Hate that it hits you over the head all at once though lol.

Eek. I hate it when that happens. I'm feeling almost the same way with my summer work clothes.

On a positive note, it's good that you see it now. Because now you can check sale racks for summer clothes as well as next spring/summer's things knowing that you need new clothes.

I always feel that way at the end of the season. All of a sudden I don't like anything and feel like I have nothing to wear. I usually wait to purge until the beginning of the season though. If I still don't like at item after not looking at it for 6 months, then it's time to go.

Hi Mo --

Do you think it's hit extra-hard since you were gearing up for fall/winter in Tahoe and are now back in Florida?

I'm sure it's a drag to be re-orienting again in all the many ways, but I wouldn't throw the proverbial baby out with the bathwater...just do your usual magic and find one new item that works with another new one to start, then try each of those with the older ones you're sick of.

I find that often helps extend the shelf life of things I'm sick of. [Not always, but often!] Good luck!

IKWYM. I find that I get dissatisfied with summer clothes especially fast--I think because there is no layering going on. I picked up a few stand alone tops at the end of the season on the sale racks that helped revive my wardrobe. Maybe you can do the same? How long will your summer last over there?

Thanks. Vix, I think you may be on to something. And Kelly, last year when we moved in early December it was still in the 80's But often it gets into 60's and 70's over winter, much like a regular fall other places.

For now I am going to shelve (literally) the shorts I'm not feeling. I do have a tentative pair of black twill shorts on the way that I hope work out.
Today I put a new tee I love with my 8 year old capris-now-turned-shorts. Mixing new loves with old standby's per Vix suggestion. Must be telepathic

Love the look in your pic! This is updated, but doesn't look like you're trying to look updated, if you know what I mean.

It's going to hit 80 in Chicago again this week, so I'm running to the end of my "transitional" clothing -- outfits that aren't too Summer is style, but suit higher temps.

Did you get the Bad Kitty shirt?

I totally hear you on this. I think when you have a super long season (which for you is now summer) it is completely sensible to save some of the budget for wardrobe refreshers. It might be an "end of season" sale for some people -- but for you, it's a "halfway through the season." I am beginning to see that I need to do that during the winter, myself. Because no matter how carefully I mix and match, I can guarantee you 100% and then some that by the time March comes along and I still have at least 6 more weeks of cold weather, I am going to be in DIRE need of something new to add to the mix.

Totally relate to the weather. It was nice here today but still not cool. I am sick of my summer clothes. I did pick up a couple of transitional tops at AT.
I think with long seasons sometimes you have to throw an e tra piece or two at the end of the season.

I'd be sick of my clothes too if facing months of warm weather in Florida, but ask me again in February Something that is helping me get through the dog days this year is adding colored underwear and buying lacy briefs or boy shorts to make sets for the first time. Even if I'm wearing the same ole outside, it feels different because of what's underneath.

Ah, I see I am not alone!
Another strategy I came up with, while reading the loungewear thread, was to wear some of my dresses with leggings just around the house. They are not as practical for riding my bike or walking in the heat, but since I am staying in a lot of the time, it's sure a step up from loungepants and tanks I'd otherwise be wearing around the house

I'm with Suz. I like the idea to add in a mid season new item or two freshen up your looks during a long season.

Seems I subconsciously did exactly that lol. Ordered these. (planning to unroll the cuff on the shorts to a respectable length [ahem] )
