Here are four outfits I put together and wore in the past three days based on the Grey & Brown formula. I had fun pulling out some really old items and remixing them with newer stuff.
1) (#1-3) Columned Grey with Warm Support Act: grey/cream striped knit dress, cream shacket, slouchy brown suede boots, dove grey bag, brown beret, and patterned scarf. I love these boots, but rarely wear them and for the short periods of time only, as the 3'5" heel is a bit too much for my feet these days. This is my "neutral mix" scarf that is one of my favorites, as it has several shades of grey, brown, cream and a bit of black in it.
2) (#4-5) Grey, White & Brown: long grey cabled sweater vest worn over white tunic shirt, brown coated skinnies, brown snake boots, brown coat, grey beret and dove bag. The vest and shirt are pretty old, and the coat is ancient (14 years!). I went for cool browns instead of the warm ones featured in the post.
3) (#6-7) Patterned Grey & Solid Cinnamon: marled grey sweater, grey skinnies, silver snakeskin boots, brown faux fur coat, same grey beret and dove bag as in the previous outfit. Sweater and jeans are also super old.
4) (#8-10) Light Blue instead of Grey: this was built around a plaid wool blazer with the perfect color mix, as the plaid is charcoal and brown, with touches of cream and light blue. It was combined with a chambray shirt, brown silk henley sweater, straight cropped jeans, brown booties and brown belt. I even added a brooch and crisscross bobby pins, but they are hard to see. This was a WFH outfit on Friday, so I did not need a bag, but I were going out, the grey/blue satchel would have been added.
Outerwear challenge:
1) The dark brown wool coat in #5 is ancient, I got it for my 30th birthday, which was 14 years ago! I wore it a lot the first couple of years, and since it only gets a couple of wears every year, but I enjoy it every time I do get to wear it.
2) The furry brown coat is new, from end-of season sales in February. I like the oversized look and purposefully did not size down. Not quite sure what this hue of brown is called, I personally named it "cappuccino" as that is what reminds me off. It is light and relatively cool, but not taupe. I quite enjoy it and wish more of this color could be found.
