Long time, eh… My only convenient WIW spot is not always free when I want to take an outfit photo, hence the WIWs draught form my end. Still, you haven’t missed that much, it’s been some variation of what’s here (semi tuck or not, different jeans, with or without scarf) - and I love love the freedom of my downsized wardrobe mused about in my old thread.
I'm finally posting because a) I miss the fun, and b) I'd like your input about some things please.
Photo 1:
My Autumn purchases, all in my main cold weather neutral:
- the needs: booties, fluid sweater and jeans.
- the want, which instantly became necessity: the vest. Thanks Una for saying that us women need extra warmth around our torso, that was the decider to buy the vest. You were right, of course

Happiness factor with my purchases is very, very high - however, I have quite an issue with the jeans. They are straight cut, something I don’t like on myself, but they were black and they were longish (not PPL) and jeans being so difficult to find for me I had to buy these at least to wear them with the boots. Also, after seeing tall Ashley sporting shorter lengths earlier this year, I even thought I’d reconsider wearing that length myself. Well, the first and only time I rolled these jeans higher and wore them outside the house, I could not wait to unroll them - and, the adult that I am, I actually felt like crying for the rest of the day. Short pants are my own perception of frump on me, so coupled with the sensation of all that extra fabric fluttering around and away from my ankles had awaken the old frustrations with short everything and I wore my beloved tapered skinnies the next few days until my style wounds healed.
So, before I taper them, please tell me if I’m missing to see the potential of these very pants. Have I unrolled them too low, too high, too wrong? Photos 2 & 3 for comparison of the jeans rolled and unrolled. The sewing machine is ready and waiting, but you can change it all...

...for the final question - I bought this grey sweater and want to know if it’s a keeper. As I have decided to focus on black, white and grey only, this is a neutral in great shade. It’s not the best of quality but I’m happy for it to last this winter only. My only concern is that it clings to some bottoms, which can then make odd silhouette. Is it worth playing with a bit more? I’d normally say yes, but I’ve since realised I need tunic length grey sweater, so perhaps I should wait for something a better.
Worn for the photo only with the black puffer vest, I'd otherwise wear it on its own or with some scarves. The contrast showcases the vest too, I bought what looks like snuggly fit because I want to layer the vest under the coats, but it can actually stretch to fit over my leather jacket.
Thanks for reading. Comments and suggestions welcome.
