WIW:When you know the propotions are off

Sigh !!! It looks like the propotions may be off.

My idea was to wear this cardigan as a top.And Bookend the heavy boots with my hair and belt.

Did I get it wrong?

Hmm, that's a tough one. You are tiny and have a lovely figure so you can definitely pull off this outfit. However, as you feel, the proportions could be off a bit for you. Maybe a less structured, more fluid top would balance better with the boots or try more refined foot wear (cognac bootie?) with the sweater you are currently wearing. Nothing in this outfit is glaringly "off" to my eye. You look lovely as always!

This could just be me and my fussy predilections when it comes to boot fit, but how can you wear boots that high? At that height, they'd be rubbing annoyingly into the back of my leg when I bent my leg to sit or walk, and catching on the car seat when I went to brake. Is it just me?

Otherwise yes your hair bookends the boots. A green scarf or tote would be lovely with this too.

I think it looks fine (and I love the sweater since I adore argyle, especially since the colors are unexpected!). Is the short length of the sweater bothering you? This was my go-to proportion a few years back, and I came to realize (slowly) that I could stand my tops to be just a few inches longer, but I am more short-waisted than you.

I am bad at proportions ... But I don't see anything wrong with this outfit? Do you think you could semi tuck the cardi to show the belt some more? You look gorgeous today though

Shiny :Ummm the boots don't rub the back of my leg. It's good 3-4 inches from the bend .
Love the green accessories idea .

Janet: It was drilled into my head by my mom that my butt has to be covered by top. So this kinda is new to me (IYKWIM).So when I looked at the photo it felt different(?)

Missey: Booties are seriously in my shopping list. I need at least 2 refined ones. Stompy shoes and booties seem to be the thing in store this year.

Neel. The cardi is no good with semi tuck. It moves a lot and doesn't stay put :(. Thanks for the compliment

Cute cardigan. I'd love to see it remixed with a) a long top peeking out from underneath, almost tunic length to really show off the shorter length of the cardigan or b) worn over a dress, this length looks great for pairing with a dress. The tall boots bookend your hair nicely.

I don't see a proportion problem here at all. the shorter top with the tall boots works well. Growing up believing you need to cover your bootie, may be nagging at you, but is a good thing for you to break out of!!!

You could try a longer layer ( maybe a layering tank ) under the sweater to see if the extra length feels right. Does the sweater pull up as you move and bend?

I do have a tank underneath Joy. Which I have tucked in :D.
It doesn't move up. But isn't good for semi tuck

The jeans and boot proportions look fine. The shaft of the boots is a little high though. I think you need a slouchier top to make the outfit look more current.

I have this problem too. I have found that if I wear knee-high boots, I have to coordinate them with the color of my pants (i.e., black boots, black pants) so as not to break up my vertical line. I also wonder if you wore a longer top if that would make a difference.

So I had to come take a look... I actually think this looks nice, although I can understand how a slouchier top might make the look more current. The cardi is fab though, I love the argyle - maybe try it witk skirts and dresses instead of pants?

I think this is objectively very flattering on you. It highlights your tiny waist and long legs. But I do find buttoned up cardigans like this to be a very classic look (which is why I ditched all of mine) so maybe it feels too classic/preppy for you as well?

That was my thought re. fit. Everything "fits." You'd be maybe happier with a slouchier top with the jeans, or vice versa something more fluid for bottoms.
