WIW...to play Bridge! (x3) - YouLookFab Forum

DH and I came from card playing families, and DH and I played Bridge together in uni. DH has played competitive Duplicate Bridge with DS#1 for 7 years and tagged me for Tuesday night 'Stress Free Bridge' at our local Senior Center once we retired. I'm using the outing as an opportunity to dress up a little. I've been to 3 Bridge nights and my nerves have settled.

#1 sunny but cold day and I did not know if the seniors Center would be hot or cold so I wore...

#2 the tops are oldies...
Striped and dotted 3/4 sleeve button down - Lands End

#3 I decided to use a special occaision clutch since all I needed was my wallet, phone and tissues (spring allergies - ugh!)

I'll continue to use Bridge Night as an opportunity for 'dressy casual', however we are having a special dinner event in June that may call for fancy dress! So I may have to dig out my LBD. Woohoo!

Runcarla, you are wise to grab any chance you get to dress up a bit when retired. They may have some sort of holiday celebration that calls for a somewhat casual festive outfit. Metallic jeans can be a good choice if you don't mind being a geezer magnet

They are all great outfits, Carla. The third one is my favourite. I love the wide legged cropped pants and the colour mixing. As Joy has said retirees need to grab the opportunities to dress up. I have certainly found that especially living in a small town.

Fun that you are finding occasions to dress up, Carla (and yay for that special dinner event;-). I love all three outfits here. Love the textural interest and contrast of the crisp white with the navy in outfit 1. The tie on the skirt is such a beautiful accent in outfit 2 (and adding a denim jacket works so well here). Great trousers in the last outfit, and the burgundy belt is such a good accent (lovely jacket too)!

You look super. I bet you injected some serious style into your senior center. Your outfits and sporty, active nature reminds me of the fact that there can be a good 40 years difference amongst the so-called “older” demographic. So you can have the younger “seniors” and the “older” seniors with vastly different interests, activity levels, and even fashion! Methinks as the boomers age, the two groups will become one.

I love all of your outfits, of course. You’re really enjoying your retirement. Good for you! Years ago, one of my brothers, my parents and I were camping. My parents desperately wanted to play bridge. They tried to teach my brother and me. We just weren’t getting it. It might have been because it was so hot. Anyway, they were absolute fiends. My mother still plays at 93.

These are great. I especially like #3 - the pattern jacket and the burgundy top look great on you. I've never played Bridge although we played a lot of cards in my family. We usually played Hearts or Pinochle.

Your outfits are great and your accessories are fab! I started playing Bridge last year and DH started 3 months ago. It's kind of addictive and a great opportunity for us retirees to dress up. We're in the beginners group and have a wonderful mentor so it's been fun.

Looks great RC. My mum plays bridge and also uses it as an opportunity to dress up. In fact, various items that I have handed up to her have become part of her bridge ensemble.

Well retirement certainly agreed with you. You look fab. 1st I thought #1was my fav because, well, navy and white...then I saw #2 and i love a denim jacket and the skirt is great...but #3 with the fab pants & jacket..I think that’s my fav.
