I'm sure many of you are aware of the style/minimalist blogger Caroline on Unfancy. Her blog demonstrates well that with some planning and consequence one can get away with very few pieces and still have a distinct and varied style. She operates with capsules for four seasons, each consisting of 37 pieces. I think CocoLion tried her capsule project recently - didn't you, Denise?

Yesterday I packed away most of my wardrobe in preparation for our relocation later this month. First, I removed everything I loved and thought I needed for the next few weeks, then I packed away the rest before I hung the favorites back. And guess what: What remained in my closet was 37 pieces of clothing! What a great opportunity to play with less for a while. Looking into my almost empty closet now fills me with great anticipation. I have lots of ideas and can't wait to see what will happen. I intend to stick to this capsule as long as I feel like it, maybe even well into the new year. It also implies a shopping stop, but I'm not making any rules against it.

My core wardrobe now consists of:
4 button downs (white, plaid, chambray & graphic)
1 basic white tee
1 dressy knit top
2 Bretons/striped long sleeves
1 lightweight charcoal sweater in silk/cashmere
1 black turtleneck in cotton/wool
5 sweaters and cardigans (cropped boatneck in deep purple, classic grey v-neck sweater, grey cashmere hoodie, cream chunky sweater, gray long cardigan, doubles as dress)
2 slim/straigh jeans (white and blue)
1 pair of black leggings
1 navy dress trousers
1 pair of slouchy pleated pants, black
2 skirts (black midi pencil skirt and deep purple full midi skirt)
2 dresses (green shift with sleeves and graphic patterned wrap dress)
1 black jumpsuit
6 toppers (red and plaid coat, navy waterproof trench, black leather bomber, navy blazer, olive green parka)
8 pairs of shoes (Black: rain boots, dressy Chelsea boots, casual chelseaboots, pointy toe booties. Brown: Cognac oxfords, brown booties, cognac tall boots). Adidas Gazelle suede sneakers.

I added a few dressy pieces (pumps, a top, a clutch and a lace dress) and a few belts, scarves, two bags, gloves and a beanie, and I'm all set for the remains of fall, probably until some very cold weather sets in. I realized that about 1/3 of this are new acquirements, which I find is quite satisfactory.

If I manage, I'll take outfit pictures every day to document the process. I hope this will be fun and a way to learn more about my style preferences. Here are the two first outfits from my "new" very restricted wardrobe:

#1-2: WIW 10/14 White jeans, white tee, cognac belt, leopard scarf, long grey cardigan, red coat, cognac messenger bag, black gloves.

#3-5: WIW 10/15 Graphic shirt, black leggings, casmere hoodie, rain boots, trench, black tote.

What do you think? This is not very minimal, but since I feel that I need to actually wear my clothes to be happy about them, I hope 37 is a number I will find easy to work with.

Thanks for reading and looking! All input is greatly appreciated.
