Today dressing didn't go as planned. I spilled on the shirt I picked out, so I put on this white one. But the reason the white one doesn't get worn much is that the cotton/silk blend is quite sheer, and I didn't want the people I was working with that day to be able to see the entire outline of the tank top underneath. So I popped on this citron cardigan, trusting in the A/C of a couple of different buildings to keep me cool.
And you know, I loved the outfit! I'd never tried the cardi with the white shirt before, and I felt wonderful in that contrast.
Monday was a different story. I'd been planning for days to wear this copy of a recent Beth Ann K-rated outfit. I was so excited about it, and knew I would look and feel terrific. However the blouse just didn't want to play! The half-tuck looked bad, the full tuck looked bad, untucked looked bad, and to make things worse the neckline slipped down all day when it wasn't slipping sideways off my shoulder. I am not going to wear it again.
I do a lot of mix and matching, but I don't pre-try every single combination. It's strange how even familiar pieces can behave unpredictably in new combinations!
Have you had any surprises lately?
