WIW...January Casuals... - YouLookFab Forum

Well, in an attempt to beat the January blahs I'm trying to stay comfy and inject a bit of colour. I've been having a lot of "home" days so I'm putting the Lysee leggings to the test. I really find that I'm not a tunic type of a person, and don't like flowy things. Long cardigans irritate my neck, but I like to wear them in spring/fall as a layer in lieu of a jacket. But wearing them around the house isn't working out for me. Fortunately I find that these Lysee leggings are pretty thick, so around the house they look more like pants, and I throw a longer coat on when I go out. So here goes:

1: Orange Anthro sweater, Lysee navy leggings (a la Suz), North Face puffer (this is my dog walking coat
2: looking ragged after a long volunteer day - ON citron/grey sweater, Hudson grey skinnies (Costco!), Born boots, Zella jacket
3: Seriously, this is my fallback and consists of my wardrobe workhorses. Worn to meet my dad for breakfast to celebrate his bday - just he and I. Best day in a loooooong time. Vince cashmere, AE jeggings, scarf from secret santa Laura(rhubarbgirl), new Clarks chelseas - shout out to Shannon! Yay! I got them on sale at The Bay! Love
4 - Loosely based on Angie's work capsule. The intent was to wear a teal cardi over top but it drove me crazy. Zara citron top, Lysee leggings
5 - Jacob crossover sweater, Zara mixed media moto pants (these were my best purchase back in Nov in anticipation for the social season - much love here )
6 - Using Ingunn's challenge for today a day early - Animal Print! Snakeskin print long sleeved top with a grey sweater layered over (Jacqueline Conoir, both), Leopard scarf, ponte jeggings, Cole Haan tall boots. #7 shown with Zara orange coat over top
8 - AllSaints print sweater/top, pont jeggings, Cole Haan boots. Comfy to wear to a 1-year-old birthday party
9 - I hesitate to post this... but this is me today. Comfy but verging on frumpsville. BR striped sweater, Lysee leggings, F21 tall socks, Ugg sweater boots.

Off to pick up the kids. Sorry to post and run. Keeping myself accountable so I can eliminate what's not working and focus on what's making me happy. Happy Monday

I really like seeing all the legging looks. It's all I want to wear this time of year too! My favorites are 3 and 6 though because of the scarves and the proportions.

I love all of these outfits. That puffer is the most stylish North Face puffer I have seen! Which model is it? Also love #2 with the fab new jeans and the sweater. #3 is gorgeous on you -- and so lovely to hear you had a nice day with your dad.

And what I want to know is how come you look as gorgeous in that magenta/ orchid Jacob top as you look in the orange coat? That is a mystery to me for sure.

You are NOT frumpsville in the last pic, or if you are, I am afraid that I am right there with you 90% of the time.

I don't know what to comment on or which outfit I like best! But first off: there are navy leggings?? And I didn't know this? Must. Get. Now. Second : I repeat myself over and over on your posts, but you are the BEST jeans model ever. You look like a 25 year old - and in the best way ever. Jackie, you wear those leggings to perfection, and I especially Iove the bundled up layers you've created in #3 and #6. Your long neck loves a scarf, girlfriend.

I don't enjoy wearing flowy tunic styles either. Love them on others like Debs and Diana, but they are not for me. High five.

You do have great casual style, Jackie. These are all very cool-looking outfits. I like the citron sweater over your leggings, and would love to see a teal layer over it, too. Sounds like you need to get some more comfortable cardigans!
I also really like outfit 8; the way you're wearing your hair, wavy and down, looks just right with the tunic, and the whole outfit looks chic with a little edge.

Suz - thanking YOU for the leggings (did my cheque arrive yet?)! I tend to wear new things into the ground right away, and these are no exception. Super duper comfy. Funny you mention that about the colours. I really think that the magentas/berries are better for my complexion. The oranges work when I have a bit of colour, and since we were just on vacation I think this works. But I really think that the Anthro sweater and the Zara orange coat are a wee bit yellow for me (very pumpkin). I'm going to try to work on this this year, I think. I'd like to narrow down my colour palette. I kinda think that I could pretty easily take your palette... My style goals are slowly coming to me

LOVE #3 -- my eyes immediately went to your new Chelsea boots. They are gorgeous, and I love the scrunchy socks at the bottom -- the shape of your leg is just amazing in this outfit, and the scarf on top is perfection. I wish we lived closer so you could come show me how to get a scarf to look like that.

Also love the top in 5 and will always wish I had bought your orange cozy Zara coat in 7.
