WIW: ETA: Pale Blue and Lime/Peplum

First things first - Does this top work with this skirt? In the mirror it looked a lot better than in the pic! It's an Angie outfit copy in the reverse color order.
Do you think I should add some long pearls?
I am planning to wear this to DS's concert today (in an hour). Thank you for your help! x

ETA: I ended up changing the top (pic 3/4). I think the previous top was too long for this skirt (because of the lining). I finally paired the skirt with a white peplum top. Although the same length as the previous top, the lower contrast helps I guess.

Just kept everything else simple by wearing white pointy ballet flats, white studded handbag and white faux pearl earrings. I felt happy with this one!

Which one do you like? Hope I didn't look frumpier in outfit 2

Neel, I really like this interpretation of this outfit. I feel that the top adds a fluid element. Forgot to mention the skirt is gorgeous.

At first I was unsure because I saw three parts of the outfit - the top, the lined part of the skirt and the unlined. But the more I was looking at it, the more it was growing on me - I think if the whole skirt was lined the outfit would look very frumpy, but this is actually very interesting and more than "just works". I love the actual colour combination and the addition of white shoes and bag.

I like it more each time I check it. The colours cheer me up.

I love the color combination in the first picture but also thought the top was long and was thinking maybe you could semi-tuck it. But I was wowed by the white top you actually wore. Fantastic outfit!

I really did like the dimension of the first fit but, in addition to I like this version also. Again the skirt is really a fab find.

I love #1. I'm humbled to have inspired your outfit, Neel.

Personally, I prefer the shape of the top in #1 to the peplum. The peplum adds two more horizontal lines and accentuates the horizontal line of the shorter lining of the skirt. To my eye, that's not quite as nice as the simple top in #1. That said, it's still a fun look.

On another note: Do you think I should extend the lining of the skirt? I find the visual horizontal cutting a bit annoying

Neel: What a gorgeous skirt!

I just tried on a wonderful Vince Camuto eyelet skirt and let it on the rack because the lining was too short. As a sewer, I just need the lining to be longer. I have seen lots of linings like this, so it must be trending, however.

Removing and replacing lining can be a bear, but matching the lining fabric and sewing on a second strip is easy, and shouldn't show at all.

I love the first version with the lime top, the horizontal blocking is superb! I think that outfit should definitely be worn out and about in the future. It's a more waist surrendering version than the second. I see what Angie does with the peplum top, but that look is still pretty. I think the peplum would work better with a pencil that had a full lining because then the focus goes to the peplum. I love the short lining on your skirt Neel, would it help to try and think of the skirt as a colorblocked item instead of as a solid blue?

I like the lime top with blue skirt. But the white one looks great as well. I think the white accessories were a good call as well.

Thank you BethAnn for your input. I was thinking of cutting a matching strip and sewing too. Happy I could do that if I wanted to.

Aida - Thanks for the skirt love. It's a brilliant idea to think of the skirt as a color blocked item. But I find color blocked bottoms hard to work with :(. I fo already have a few set of tops that I could wear with this. So I think I would go with those and wear the skirt as is at least for a few more wears!
