WIWearing: boring outfit, DOA curls and how big is my head, really?

The outfit really is boring but works for a day like today (cold, and I see flurries outside my window now--when will winter end?).

I know I might be able to resurrect some wave in my hair for a few hours when I shampoo it but this is how it goes now, kind of limp. Maybe I should just start blowing it straight(er) again...I would rather not go back down that path, though. Hair is already dry and damaged, and doesn't ever really look naturally straight anyway.

One thing I noticed recently is how much variation I see in my proportion in the mirror. The first pic shows me with more of a normal-sized head, and the next one shows the pumpkin head effect. So yeah, there is definitely either camera or mirror distortion. I find that interesting.

Oh, and unrelated but I apologize for not being much of a participant these days in commenting on others' WIW. The pace of the postings is staggering, just at the same time as I'm getting busier, and I feel overwhelmed. I sign in daily for now, and try and hop on and drive-by comment (lamely) at least every few days. I hope all the new people here are experiencing the awesomeness of the YLF community!

This is a perfectly good, functional, nice-looking outfit, Mochi - and frankly at this point in the weather situation, that is the most I can strive for! IKWYM about the forum, it's going at the speed of light.

I'm pretty clueless when it comes to hair, so I'm sorry I don't have any suggestions. But I do empathize, it's so frustrating when it doesn't want to behave-((

I love how you are lightening up for Spring with the light grey top and cream cami. Looks great with your green pants. And the animal print booties are a fab touch.

It is fascinating how subtle camera angles can emphasize certain body parts.I don't have a tripod so I prop my little Canon anywhere I can, usually in a lower spot or at hip level and I feel the camera angle makes me wider in the hip than I *feel* I am.

However most of this in our heads, I would never have noticed your head being large.

I like your "boring" outfit, especially the fit of the olive (?) green trousers -- fantastic length and very flattering.

Do you use a leaning mirror? That will definitely distort things, as well as the angle you hold the camera at. It all looks good though!

I have ringlets that I wash with a non-sulphate shampoo (Giovanni) and then condition it. While soaking wet in the shower I add a tiny bit of leave in conditioner and then scrunch in some gel (raking is different than scrunching). Then wrap a cotton shirt on my head. After I dry off and get out of the shower I take off the cotton shirt and scrunch a little more gel into it. Then I don't touch it at all for the two hours it takes to dry. After two hours I put lotion on my hands and scrunch some more.

Sounds complicated but its really not - just a long time until it is dry. If I touch it when it's wet it turns into a frizz ball.

I am not sure what wavie gals do!

I like your outfit. You look put together and stylish. I quite like your hair the way it is in the pics. It looks like it has some soft wave. Very pretty! LOL about the camera angle.

You look good Nancy! Having seen you in person, your head is a perfectly normal size Photo #1 looks much more like how you look in real life hehe. It's most likely from the tilt of your phone, actually; with the height at your head, if the camera lens is tilted inwards then your head gets overexaggerated. If held perfectly straight you'll look more correct. On the hair, I would also suggest switching your shampoo/conditioner to one that is sulfate free or very low in sulfates especially if you don't use products with sulfates in them. There are plenty of low-cost options there, I think naturallycurly.com has list of them. For conditioning, perhaps try an olive oil or coconut treatment? And I have to use a little foaming mouse every day to get volume and life back into my hair.

Raisin, no, the mirror hangs from the door.

I think many, if not most, of us have our achilles heels such as self-perceived wide hips, big shoulders, large thighs....I have more than one point of obsession, but the head thing, yeah, definitely. It is big, though. Most women's hats don't fit me.

Anyway, at least I can see evidence that there is some photographic distortion. The camera adds ten pounds (to my head).

Thanks for posting an everyday type outfit! It looks comfortable and young. You look well proportaioned to me, but I too sometimes feel like I have a mega melon in my photos, I think it is the camera angle because in real life I am a bit of a pinhead. Have you ever had short hair? CHopping it all off is a great way to cull the damage and start again. And with your huge coconut you could pull it off - JUST KIDDING. Your head is perfect.

I think of it more like a pumpkin. Occasionally, a beach ball.

I've had nothing but short hair most of my life. I may be going back if I can't get the texture to start behaving.
