WIW...cobalt to the lavender farm!

DH spotted this T yesterday, and suggested that it looked like something I might like to try on! I'm nowhere near being over cobalt, so gave into the temptation. There was a general remark by DS #1 that at least it wasn't a striped T!

Wore it today to visit a lavender farm with the spouse of DH's golfing buddy. There was a lecture before the tour and the spouse and I both riffled through our purses for pens and pads of paper. We had a laugh, 18 people and we were the only ones taking notes!

Carla that is a beautiful tee! I immediately started to imagine a wrap dress in the pattern lol. Lovely outfit. I adore lavender, so relaxing to smell and look at. Did you get gold stars for your note taking?

Print tees are terrific for outdoor excursions - they make a simple outfit loo put together in one step and stay fresh looking in the heat.

Sveta, I learned that English and French lavender can grow in zone 5 but that a lot of the hybrid varieties being sold in garden centres are bred with Spanish lavender that is zone 8. There is no winter hardiness to those plants, so folks think they can't grow lavender...but it is just that they aren't getting the right cultivars.

I also learned that lavender needs to be cut down hard to do well. Deadhead the blooms when they are spent, and cut down the plant by 1/3 by mid August to give it 6-8 weeks to get new green leaves going before the winter.

I learned lots more, but do not wish to bore folks with a prolonged post. Our husbands were surprised we spent 3+ hours there!

Beautiful T shirt. I shouldn't be so afraid of prints.

That is what I need to hear about looking after my lavender--I didn't cut mine down enough last winter, the French is thriving since i cut it back this spring but the English is looking pretty shaky. Any more tips to share?

A lavender farm in Canada? Wow, never thought I would hear this! Can you tell us where it is? I drove through lavender fields in Provence, France a few weeks ago, but have never really seen fields elsewhere.
I love your new shirt, it looks perfect with the bag.

Beautiful tee and colors - I have one lavender plant growing in my herb garden and there are several lavender farms nearby that are wonderful to visit. So great that you can grow it up in Canada too!

That is a great print for you. I like prints that can go summery with white or more moody with darker colors--makes them so versatile and good "transition" pieces.
