WIW....black and white, and a lesson?

Still dealing with a Spring cold, but a bit better today. Decided on comfort once again, but was also musing on constructive comments by Angie, Shevia, and BethAnn from previous outfit posts.

In general I have tucked in my tops, and I like a cinch belt for waist definition...however comments by Fabbers have suggested loose fitting/untucked is a more flattering look. Today I styled a simple black and white look 3 ways. Pictures are worth a thousand words. I believe my high hip/short waist is better served with an untucked shirt, and defining the waist with a wide belt is not my best look!

Another lesson learned.

I like the version you went with! I like the belted version, too, but I'm trying to learn these things myself, and I do think #3 looks more current as well as flattering.
Your legs are so shapely; I think you could show them off with a slightly shorter and/or closer-fitting pencil skirt with that top and the flats!

Untucked with the boots is my favorite, but the cinched wait is OK too. It is a bit dressier.

I was very flattered to see my name and very pleased that I said something helpful. I totally agree with your choice of #3 as what to wear. I prefer the top without the belt and #2 looks good but I think the outfit with the boots looks fantastic!

Great choice when you're working while under the weather! Comfortable and chic! I do like it best without the belt, and I like both kids of footwear -- depending on the weather.

I think it would be interesting to try it belted and worn under a jacket. The jacket creates a long line, and the belt gives a defined waist. Also, and I'm less sure about this one, what about trying it tucked and belted (If the belt won't slide on top of the skirt too much). This creates a little shorter look in the torso, but a real long leg line. I like this look sometimes with woven blouses. I actually have a longish torso, but my full bust kind of negates the effect!

I like it all ways, actually! I think it might work a little bit better belted if you tried a belt that wasn't quite that wide. Maybe 2 to 2.5 inches? It would be worth experimenting with belt widths and the camera. Also with jackets over top, as Beth Ann suggests -- and different degrees of contrast between the top/ bottom/ belt - because that is going to make for a very different look as well.

I like all your versions and can even see a belt with #3 and the addition of a jacket as Beth Ann mentioned, depending on your need for warmth and comfort.

I don't think the belt is necessary, but it looks good both ways. It probably depends on the outfit. I don't knotw that you need to stop cinching all together.

I agree with what you have said above - I have a short waist, too, and never could wear wide belts, even though they do cinch. Love your striped top!
