Marathon gardening put ALL my shorts and jeans in the wash - so took a day off. Well, I went to the gym Anyway, just the pants and T-shirt (tucked!), and olive sneakers until bridge in the pm, when I switched out the sneakers for white loafers and added my new olive utility jacket. It was warm/muggy outside, but is always arctic at the community center.

Olive utility jacket - BR (2019)
Floral t-shirt - Only and Sons (2018)
Black 'On The Fly' trousers - Lulu Lemon (2018)
White loafers - Nine West (2018)

I felt that the outfit was dark, though the trousers are very light weight (not warm/hot at all) and super comfortable. Any ideas? Thanks for looking, and comments/suggestions welcomed.

The white shoes makes the outfit by lightening up the outfit and picking up the lighter colors in the top. You look fab!

Love that jacket on you,great shape and colour.You could try a light pink scarf and shoes but this would add more layers which you might not want,l think that you look great as you are.

You look fabulous. I don't see darkness at all. I wore those pants and my Loft olive jacket yesterday. We were practically twins.

I hear where you’re coming from. I find olive toppers difficult to wear unless I brighten them up with a white shirt. Yesterday I wore an olive utility vest over a navy t-shirt and cropped jeans, and felt very drab. But when I wear that same vest over white, i think it looks so much better. So perhaps you need a top with more light colors to perk up this outfit.

Terrific outfit! I don't think it looks too dark, but I see what you mean and it could be that seasonal palette thing at play - do the pants take a belt, maybe a lighter colour to break up the column-ish of dark? Or a white jean jacket rather than the olive. But as I say, it looks perfect to me - so just thoughts if it would feel more seasonal/light ...

Looks awesome to me! I like dark colors in summer, light colors are not the only way to go even though perhaps more predictable.

What a lovely outfit and the white shoes really lift it. However, I can understand your feeling that it was dark for a summer's day. With black in summer, I prefer to wear it with lighter colours or to show more skin. I wear black quite a bit in summer but will have my bag, shoes etc all light or colourful to break it up.

Outfit darkness is so subjective for me!

In the NE we're at an awkward time when the light has changed but it's still very warm. The black gives the definition that I've been wanting to see in my own outfits these days but you lifted it with other colors and print. The dark floral is interesting to me because I can't face my spring striped tops in late summer. I love your jacket!

And that you could switch shoes, add a jacket and head out for the evening really settles it.

I like it as is, you could swap the jacket or top but I think it is perfect as is. But I am drawn to black.

The tuck looks good too!!

Killer indeed. Just swap out the olive jacket for a white denim one if you are feeling a little dark.....but the photo doesn't give off a dark vibe at all. I swear to god those On the Fly pants are the single best pants EVER. I wore my wide leg ones earlier this week in Toronto and felt great in them. Have you seen the new shorter cropped wide leg version ? I'm so tempted but know I don't really need them nor will they work in winter, but SO cute!

Lisap - I am soooo tempted by the full length wide leg version in order to recreate the look below for F/W, but wonder if they will be warm enough?

I love this and don't think it looks too dark at all. The white shoes are a fun touch that I wouldn't have thought of.
