Getting to work this week was all about staying warm during record breaking cold temperatures and a commute on urban transit. Went for the straight leg trouser, sweater combo. Then it got 'warmer' and we got clobbered with more snow. Though dressed in survivor mode ( going out for groceries, and later a massage) I got 2 compliments on my outfit. Go figure?!?

Lookin good! You are getting our weather.... It is travelling eastward across the prairies then to you. Horrible weather pattern, hopefully it wont last too long.

Love the neutrals and a pop of colour and you look nice and warm in all that snow the weather has been on our news, it looks horrific, worst in 40 years apparently !!! Stay safe

Well, as for "go figure": You've got a great one! Your outfits are so perfect for the present temps. I have a sweet spot for No 1. Its simplicity and streamline has something almost rebel to it.

I agree with Krish -- #1 is just stellar on you! I also love #2 on you. And yeah..our weather is similar.

I adore your new, shorter hair. It really makes you look taller, more slender, and more chic.

I love your French Connection sweater. I'm studying what you wear to keep warm (as I'm perpetually cold)...

You know, I got some fake Sorel's at Target. They barely lasted a couple of months, what with all the dog walking I do. Do you think Sorel's would stand up better to heavy walking? I'm thinking maybe they wouldn't actually. I'm not tromping in snow, but hitting the pavement.

I'm taking notes. It's supposed to be 5 degrees in Atlanta Monday morning. I can't remember that ever happening.

Thanks all! I think the hit of red in #3 and #4 is what people liked, though up close the coat is an interesting pattern of black and brown that looks like alligator skin...only heavy carpet bag type fabric, and it has an off center button closure.

Rachylou...my last pair of Sorels were actually hand me downs from one of the boys (when they grew out of them). I think combined, we got 8 years out of them. I don't think anyone who wears them actually lifts their feet up!! The walk is more like a drag-your-feet-shuffle kind of thing with a very distinctive sound. Note: there are fashion Sorels (everywhere since their appearance in 'Hunger Games'.) They are of a more slim styling and NOT weather rated. Then, there are the 'gear' Sorels which have the replaceable felt liners and ARE weather rated. (Mine are #4 below - the 1964 PAC - rated for -32 deg C). Bulkier, but they do the job. They run around $100-150. The names this year are fun: Joan of Arctic, Conquest Carly, etc.
