WIW:a very short stay in the holding Zone

On Tuesday I decided that my long sleeved pussy bow blouse really needs to go. It has always looked like it have a little defect on the sleeves, its a little shiny with age (I've have had it 5-7 years) and it's darker than I'm preferring these days. To the holding zone - possibly about to be thrown out as I didn't think an op shop would like it.

On Wednesday morning I'm trying to decide what to wear. I have a requirement that if it's winter I MUST wear long sleeves (although the rest of my outfit is worn year round). All other options I had either just worn or were in the wash (cue: time to do a delicates wash!) Back went the blouse!

It's very hard to photograph dark colours, so I've lightened it as much as I can.

I'm beginning to think that it might be time for the suit to go too. It is nearly 14 years old and does occasionally look shiny in spots. OTOH it is by far the best quality garment I own - made in wool.

Any comments or criticism welcome

That suit is my favorite outfit that I've seen on you. You need to save up for a quality replacement.

Hah, I know this process! Discarding something and then rushing to rescue it for an emergency! I like your outfit. Too much dark head-to-toe for my taste, but it flatters you and looks professional. Finding high-quality garments is so difficult. Maybe you can replace this excellent suit with another by the same brand?

Thanks Joy and Sisi. Joy you've probably seen this before (not that I'd expect you to remember) I wear the suit, and in winter the suit with this blouse, very often.

As to buying another one, I'm not really sure about that. Although I work in the same sort of setting as I did 14 years ago, the dress codes are a bit more casual, and more what Angie calls "business casual". I don't really need a suit as such.

The shop I bought it at (Ojay, for the Aussies) doesn't exist in brick and mortor anymore and doesn't seem to sell suits online. It was amazing really, back then. You could get the same suit with 2 different styles of skirt, for instance. I don't even know shops that are like that these days.

Also, I'm trying to move away from grey!

It looks great, Anne! I can't see the aging you're talking about in the photo, but the suit doesn't look dated, at least. I say keep it unless you feel you're starting to look ragged.

Angie - I've been on fire for years then!! I wore this outfit at least once a fortnight in winter for the last 4 years (though boots are only 2 years).I don't usually post repeated outfits that much, but I do in fact repeat outfits!!

Anne - adore the whole outfit. Fantastic suit!! I won't tell you how old some of my garments are, but they make your suit look like an ingenue!! Excellent clothing lasts a long time! Love the blouse too, only you can decide, but you look fantastic!

Anne, I lament the loss of Ojay and there is no real replacement. Work wear has become more casual in offices and that is also reflected in what you can buy in store. This looks fab on you, beautiful fit and style. I love a pussy bow blouse too.

Bijou - Yes I feared that - I certainly hadn't seen any shops like Ojay and you are more widely shopped than I. I don't know where the young woman at work buy their suits these days (the professionals do usually have one,though they don't wear it all the time) but I suspect it's somewhere above my price range.

It's a good time for blouse shopping now though!
