WIW...a little old fashioned?

it seems like ages since I've worn a dress or skirt, but with warmer weather, I was in the mood. The Big City is still grey and gritty and most folks in black. The public planters still have winter plantings. However, I've personally tried to brighten things up with red this week.

I don't feel like these outfits are particularly trendy, but I felt very comfortable, and a little happier for the change in profile and the injection of colour.

#1 cotton sweater with lace - MWWH
Black skirt with lace trim - Winners
Black shoes -Anne Klein
Red bag - Tommy Hilfiger

#2 cotton blend turtleneck sweater - MWWH
Red trousers - Tahari
Shoes - Town Shoes

I love seeing two different outfits in the same color scheme! Both are winners. No, not necessarily trendy, but pulled together and happy!

Classic, not old fashioned. And the saddle bag is a nod to trends. Love the leopard shoes and yay for a new silhouette for spring!

These both seem Just Trendy Enough for a simple but polished work outfit..IMHO. The right red becomes one of the details. I think they are both lovely. I am looking at bags like that and ordered a nice fossil one but it looks bulky somehow compared to yours which is just perfect. Do you have a find for it?

I also really like the second one, the shoes bring it from classic to modern, imho. Good for you injecting some colour into this never ending season! It's gonna snow here this afternoon.... sigh.

LOVE the red pants and leopard loafers!
I'll be honest that I can't be objective about the cardigan, because I have a poison eye for contrast lace trim. But the silhoutte and color combo seems classic rather than old fashioned to me.

Yay for colour! You have inspired me to get out my red pants today (post may follow) by proving they are for spring, not just winter.

Also: what do winter planters contain? Pretty sure ours just contain snow.

LOL! L'Abeille, winter planters in the Big City are filled with Christmas themed greenery-now mostly brown with red dogwood branches, pine cones, and birch.

Chris987, the bag deserves it's own post! I don't like labels so picked off the large Tommy Hilfiger metal and leather label. There were 2 small slits in the quilted nylon fabric. I inserted a sparkly hair barette! I am looking for a simple bar pin now. I see it as an opportunity to change up the look of the bag!

Oh! I got it at Winners to go with my new red Cons, and mostly keep it for weekends. Couldn't resist some matchy-matchy.

I don't know if these outfits are trendy or old fashioned and I don't know that I care because I LOVE the red & black combination on you. Very elegant and dramatic. Well done!

Oh, love both outfits. Shoes are fab. With the more casual pants outfit, I know you were doing the matchy thing, but I would love to see a bag in camel or similar neutral to play off the leopard and pick up your hair color.

These are classic outfits, and classic is always on trend. They are definitely not old fashioned. You look good wearing them and I like the brightness of the red.

I love red and black Carla, you look great. Shoes are definitely trendy I think. Amazed about the bag, I don't like blingy labels either and this may give a wider range. I don't change out bags that much though as not a bag girl like Angie, but a shoe girl.

These outfits are great on you, Carla. Everything fits so nicely, and you have a bit of Parisian chic feel. I love your idea for removing the bag's logo and replacing it with a barrette! Ingenious.
