WIW yesterday - Continuing Badass Journey

Hi!
This is what I wore yesterday to go teach.

We had a fun class about surrealist authors and tried automatic writing.

Happiness factor was pretty much around 8.5 to 9.5 out of 10. I felt badass (+), tried to rock ultra casual rubber lace-up booties (+) but they have a round toe (-), which I understand is essential for the look, but it's something I struggle with and am trying to learn to see differently.

Your class sounds super fun! Love the look especially the boots. I struggle with round toes myself but it looks perfectly natural in this photo.

Which surrealists authors were up for discussion?

Rach, André Breton and Jacques Prévert, to answer your question. Students always enjoy that and as younger readers, I find they "get" surrealism and the importance of dreams quicker. I do a fun experience with them after having repeated the word "dream" nonchalantly in the first portion of the class, I have them do 3 minutes of automatic writing - where they must keep writing no matter what, even if they write "I'm writing I'm writing I'm writing...". When they read it out afterwards, we'll find that a lot of them will have started out by describing their dream life, dream car, dream job, and then, when that's out of the way, they continue on a very different tengeant (life and death, meaning of life, life on other planets, friendship, etc). And I tell them: the second part is what you really have in your heart and what you should listen to. They love it. And so do I!

Your journey continues and you are slaying it. I like the addition of the belt. I also like how you assessed/evaluated the outfit. Perhaps something I should learn to do.

Sterling, I have started this new thing that is helping me:
On my iphone, I realized you can create as many calendars as you want and color code them. So everyday I add an event for that day, and rate the happiness factor in that day's WIW. The title of the event is either a brief description of the outfit or my happiness factor or both, or how much in line it is with my style goal. I scroll down and mark it in a calendar I created called "OHF" (Outfit happiness factor). This has forced me to reflect on my WIW in actual words instead of only thoughts. And this in itself is an eye opener.

I'm really enjoying your outfits on this new style journey. I really like the blue plaid with the short jacket. I think the belt is a great piece to add edge and shine. The boots look fine to me. Great idea with the calendar.

OH, gosh! This is such a fun outfit! The shirt looks like Black Watch plaid - my uniform ('Filles de Jesu') when I was in boarding school in PQ. Pairing it with a leather topper and rubber boots carries bad-assery to another level!

It's so nice, I found myself almost never wearing it because I liked it *too much*... you know what I mean? (Also, it's dry clean only! Which makes no sense for such a causal piece).
