These are my outfits from past three days, playing with mustard formula. Like orange, mustard is not a good color for me so I have very little of it, mostly printed tops and scarves with relatively small amounts of mustard in it. I do however have an old pair of mustard booties, which I have just rescued from the donation bag. I also found a simple mustard cami in a bag of old solid non-neutral camis in all sorts of colors I keep in my holding zone (does anyone else remember wearing camis as accents under deep Vs and cardis 15 or so years ago?)
The outfits:
1) #1-3 is a rendition of the first formula, with earthy suit. I fell in love with this VB suit despite the base color of beige/tan that is also not good on me. It has various shades of brown, and what hopefully brings it into wearable territory, some accents of blue and pink. I paired it with the old mustard cami, cream oxfords and sand bag. This is probably the biggest total amount of "not my " colors worn in a single outfit in a long time.
2) #4-5 is version of the fourth formula, mustard with teal. It was built around striped sweater tee with various shades of teal and a touch of mustard. It was combined with teal NAS puffer, dark straight jeans, cuffed, the rescued mustard booties and sand bag.
3) #6-7 is mustard with blush, not suggested in the post, but a pairing I like. I built the outfit analogously to the teal version, around old Boden multicolored blouse which includes blush and mustard. I combined it with my coated lizard jeans, same mustard booties, old blush moto and a blush crossbody.
The fourth outfit, in #8, was not worn, I was only trying out the third suggestion from the blog, mustard with a column of cream. I tried using a scarf instead of a topper. I have several scarves with some mustard in it, but the amounts are really small. This one had the most, but I am not sure it is enough to qualify for this formula. Otherwise I liked it and will wear it soon.
I am seriously considering adding a little mustard cross-body bag (the one Beth Ann posted) to form a mustard complement with the booties. as I really like how it looks with denim and blue (#9).
Finally, how would you call the greenish/brownish color in this striped sweater in #10? Is it olive, greenish mustard, or something else? Can't quite make up my mind about it.
