I finally got the nerve to wear some of my pantsuits (sitting in my closet waiting for the office return) casually the past weekend, as Angie has been recommending. I am also trying a new approach with hemming: wearing pants first as are (if possible) before making the decision. The darker suit was worn on Saturday to go to the mall to make some returns, and the light blue one yesterday to run some local errands. The formula is the same: plaid suit, graphic tee, flat shoes (oxfords/sneakers) and cross-body bag.

First outfit: Elie Tahari checked suit in black, brown & bright purple (close-up of the pattern in #5), black graphic Blondie tee, eggplant oxfords and black studded bag. In #1 showing the pants with the old purple cashmere sweater, as a reference for my purple & brown thread.

Second outfit: Veronica Beard light blue/white plaid suit, white leopard graphic tee, white sneakers and dove cross body bag. This is a rare pantsuit I have with a shorter jacket, as I tend to go with longer ones to go with my long torso. Curious what your thoughts are on this particular length on me.

Hemming:
1) The dark pants are or close to the new shorter full length. I do not want them cropped. There is an inch of the material available to be let out if necessary. Should I keep them as are or lengthen them a little?
2) The light pants are meant to be cropped (not enough material for full length), but as usual hit me longer at an awkward spot. I am thinking of hemming them to the length I have shown folded under on the right in the photos. I am interested in your thoughts about that length and open to other suggestions.
