Lyn D. Nice idea! I am rebuilding my scarf collection to include more in my light summer color palate. I probably have something in my old colors that would fit the bill and can try this.
My color consultant told me that with my small features I should be wearing primarily solid colors, very little print, or if I use print to keep the pattern small. I was so excited to find a scarf that was in my color palate that I decided to try it out! It's also a new scarf knot for me, and I'm happy with the results there.
Laurie, thanks for the complement! For the record, I definitely have my share of fit issues with clothes. If you look at my K/R posts you will see some I was brave enough to share.
KKards, your comments about contrast are great. If I had a lighter pair of jeans available, I would have worn them instead of the dark. I mean to try bleaching a pair to see if I can make it lighter, but I have to hunt around to find a method so it doesn't get streaky. I think the contrast would have looked more balanced then. I think dark may work well for some people, but I am trying to stay away from it. The color consultant showed me on the color fan what contrast level would be good. I pretty much ignored it here because I wanted to wear the scarf, and I don't have the proper color jeans. It's a process to alter ones closet!
Unfrumped, your point about proportions is well taken. I was aware that the cardigan was not the best length. I have been looking for an alternative, but my first attempt failed. I had ordered a Vince cardigan (see below) but it was huge and overwhelmed me. I am toying around with ordering it again in a smaller size, but the DH had a very negative reaction to it, so I think I need to keep looking. I really don't know much about proportions? I think I need to read up on that. I know my legs are short for my height and I have a long rise. I know about the rule of thirds. How to use the information is a different story. One thing I didn't try was to keep the blouse untucked and wear the sweater over it. I wonder if that would have worked better? I'm glad you noticed my shoes. I intentionally picked them and the belt as accents for this ensemble. Those shoes are so comfortable! I swear I could run in them!
Thanks Kellygirl, Alaskagirl and Suz!
Lisap, one of these days I will feel comfortable with fewer accessories. Perhaps just my earrings would have been enough here? They were abalone earrings that my dad gave me years ago. He actually bought them for me before my ears were pierced! So, they are my very first pair of earrings and have special sentimental meaning for me.
Thanks Deb, I think I may go scarf shopping to see if I can find anything interesting.
If you're still reading, thanks! That was very long!
