WIW: wine adventure, and ruana

Wine adventure sounds better than Walgreens. I went to Walgreens and then the hidden wine store across the street today to dig out an affordable white wine from the dust. Eleven-year-old Chilean sauv. blanc. That'll do.

I guess I looked good! A man on the bus liked my hat, a man on a motorcycle said "you're looking fine today, young lady." And at the wine store I got carded for the first time in a long time.

The signature item would be the long crochet vest, handed down to me by a friend. It reminds me of something Jenny would wear in Forrest Gump. Gifted straw hat, Chicos earrings. Boody crop top. Brown flare cords from the Gap, thrifted braided belt. The shoes I wore were Adidas.

I like the tote a lot, which was a splurge at a fabric store in Santa Fe--
you know, where the employees make things to show off the fabric.

Last pictures are my new reversible ruana from Chicos. Very cool, silky fabric. Quite nice. If anyone has had a ruana before, let me know. I am wondering if I will need to use a belt....

I am not surprised at the compliments; you look approachable and fun. The tote is a wonderful find and so practical too. I love the crochet vest, having two dogs, that is something that would last about 5 minutes in my wardrobe, so I'm glad to enjoy this style on you.

Thanks, Bijou! A giant tote bag that is sturdy and also fashionable is the secret weapon of the environmental set. I can run three different errands and put a book, etc. in there.

Sounds like a fun excursion! The crochet vest is so cool. It's great with the flares, and I like how you updated it with the crop top. I remember those vests from the 70s--my mom made one for me, and I loved it. The new ruana is gorgeous.

I have had that vest and hat! You look much cuter, the audience was right.
Ruanas are gold for air conditioning. I drape them folded as a scarf on one shoulder till needed, then you can dramatically swirl it on. I like fits loose, but in a high wind, a belt would be very practical.
It’s a good place for a brooch, also.

Love that tote bag! Funny, I have a tote from Santa Fe that came with a purchase of a pretty shawl I bought there years ago. I never wear the shawl but I use the tote, LOL.

Fun outfit - you know I love the Adidas! Re ruana: A few years ago I got wool woven poncho, the same shape as your item, but wool plaid. I wore it without a belt.

Firecracker--yes, I love crop tops, and need to find more ways to wear them--this seemed like a good way. I love that your mom made one of these--she must have been talented at crochet.

Olive Green--love your ruana strategy. Especially in a restaurant or movie theater, you won't move around a lot, so it will stay on.

Angie--I did try it with a belt. Looks good, but need to mess with the billowy fabric to fit it properly. I wonder what else Jenny would wear, without looking it up. I'm thinking underneath might be some kind of Indian tunic.

Dee--thank you. That tote was an irrational purchase that I knew would somehow make sense in the end. It is always a great day when you get carded.

Janet--hidden wine stores are ALWAYS intriguing! They say if you're savvy, you can sometimes come away with a steal that is worth much more. Probably not this bottle.

I do like Santa Fe as a shopping destination, but you need to appreciate that sort of look. Anyone looking for great Western gear, gorgeous hippie dresses...that's the place.

Beautiful ruana. I enjoy wearing mine without a belt so I get more drama from the soft flow of the material when walking.

The crochet vest is lovely and pairs very well with the pretty floral tote. The blue adidas has a fun green stripe and adds a nice pop of color to your outfit. You rocked this crochet outfit!
