WIW: wild card knife pleat skirt

I've slacked on taking, let alone posting, outfit photos lately but I thought I would share a skirt that makes me smile today.

This knife-pleat skirt (thrifted) is a wild card on several levels -- polyester, Cobalt blue, and the elephant print marches right up to the line of "twee" -- but I adore it even so.

I usually wear this with navy, black, or gray and have done a bit of pattern mixing with a Breton stripe top. Can anyone think of other color combinations or styling ideas for this piece?

Fun skirt. How about repeating the colour of the elephants in a top, topper, scarf or necklace?

Thanks, The Cat. Your comment made me realize how bad the lighting is in that first pic! Sorry about that. The elephants look peachy-pink in the photo...in fact they are pale gray, so yes, I've worn the skirt with an elephant-colored top in the past (I actually have a gray 3/4 sleeve sweatshirt similar to the navy one I'm wearing today so that makes an easy pairing).

On my screen the elephants look orange in the first photo! And grey in the second one. Funny.

What a fun skirt! Oh gosh, on my computer, the elephants look to be a mustard color. Anyway, what about wearing the skirt with a top with skinny stripes.....white and gray maybe? Or a gray floral in a small print?

Great score SARH. I think it’s a fun skirt. Apparently those pachyderms are chameleons too- lol. I guess if you look at the colors all the fabbers think they see maybe those colors would all work;-).
Then again- you can grab a glass of wine and sip while you try it with all your tops.........when the elephants turn pink, it might be time to stop the shop your closer activity..... and the wine......haha.

Thanks for the appreciation, all! Mainelady I like the idea of skinny gray stripes or small flowers, I’ll keep an eye out for something like that. Efgben you are cracking me up! But you know, maybe it would work with coral and peachy shades. I’ll give it a go!

Very cute skirt. I would try it with a slightly cropped knit top. In a colour of your choosing!

A tank or cami untucked & short denim jacket could be cute. Maybe perforated booties or ballet flats? I even think oxfords would be fun with it.

That print is absolutely adorable! I've really been digging the look of navy combined with yellows -- bold dandelion yellows and earthier mustard shades. If you have tops in in any shade of yellow it might be a fun combo. Chambray and denim would be nice options if you want a more subtle pairing.

Thanks, all! Lots of good ideas here. I don't have the items to carry out all of your suggestions (I guess that's how it goes with a wild card, hey?) but I will try the ones I can!

La Ped, funny you should mention yellow, I tried on a pair of citron (sort of greenish-yellow) ballet flats yesterday at Goodwill while wearing the skirt. They weren't comfortable enough to buy for $14.99 but I get the appeal of the color combination!

Can see why you love it,it’s a fun skirt.Good suggestions above ,I would advise tucking in your top or a shorter top so we can see where your waist is with a skirt like this.

Haha. Sorry, Cardiff girl, that's the one thing I won't try. Never tuck my tops. Waist is nonexistent. (The pic is flattening things out a bit, but the top I am wearing does have a welted hem, so there's a bit more structure to the outfit than it might appear here.)
