worries:
Do I look like a line backer or what? This top is super comfy and easy to wear, but does it over-accentuate my straight shoulders? I love this shirt (happiness/comfort) but looking at these pics, not so sure?

Dang shoes:
LOVE how they look -- can't really see in this photo but got lots of compliments today. Unfortunately, these shoes are frustrating me. They are comfy in that they don't rub (nice leather) but dang it, I find them hard to walk my usual pace in them. They aren't even that high -- I just feel like I'm dragging blocks of cement and clopping everywhere I go! Alas, they are mere sitting shoes. Wish they were walking shoes, because they are indeed quite cute. But VC, if you are reading this...................... hear my pleas! You look like a stable walking shoe, WHY are you not??

Nope, no linebacker in sight. You look terrific, Shiny. Bummer about the shoes. I just got rid of a few pair that felt like cement blocks. I'm done with clomping and I don't need sitting shoes. Is it because they are mules? Sometimes the lack of a back strap can cause clomping too.

If you are a linebacker you're a very cute one Shoulders look lovely to me, as does the rest of you in the outfit. Too bad on the shoes, they look like they'd be stable to me as well! Perhaps the open back is what's doing it?

No, not because they are mules. I wore mules all the time in the 90s, I saw these and knew I had to have them. The straps aren't the issue either-- these are well placed and my foot fits well in them. It's something about the weight of the heel and maybe in combination with where the weight is positioned, if that makes any sense? All I know is that they are perfectly comfy to stand for hours in, but walking, I go half my usual pace (ETA: and half my usual stride!), and it gets really tiring.

They MAY work for someone taller, I suspect. It could be at a size 6 the weight of the heel just doesn't work. That is my best guess.

I don't think it is the heel height because my favorite nude heels -- campers -- are even higher than this. But the heel is much lighter weight, because it is made of some magical rubber or something material, with lots of bouncy give, great for walking.

It's not just pace of walking - I find I have to shorten my step in these VC's. But my feet aren't sore at all. Straps and leather not rubbing anywhere. Hard to explain.

Darn, about the shoes! Finding good-looking and comfortable shoes is the eternal quest, isn't it? Frustrating!

Love the simplicity of your outfit. It's a shame about the shoes. I have some that are comfortable for walking but drive DH crazy with the clumping noise as I walk. I wonder if a cobbler could replace the heel with a softer one or something.

Haha, if you want linebacker check out my WIW from today. You look radiant and the scuba jacket is amazing. Sorry about the heels - I wonder why so heavy? I hate that horseshoe feeling. Imagine how horses feel!

I just had to donate a pair of really cute mules because I sounded like a "linebacker" when I came clumping along...Your shoulders definitely look great and I love your outfits...Maybe you could take the shoes into a cobbler and have them give some suggestions...

ha ha, since when were linebackers petite, chic blondes? Guess I haven't watched football lately! You look great. Love this combo. So sorry about the shoes. I'm at a point where I cannot deal with uncomfy shoes, no matter how many compliments roll in.

Too bad for the shoes, because they are so visually perfect with white jeans, both in shape and colour.

I see your problem is due to lack of fastening between ankle and heel. The only link to the sole is the leather in the front, which will inevitably stretch, if anything widening the gap more than anything else.

I wonder if by changing the foot's angle one could alleviate the problem?

Wild idea: would it feel better with a front pad under the sole? (Right under toes and ball of feet, like a half-sole, they sometimes give it out for free at the shoe store. Be sure to use foam ones). This would elevate slightly the front, and distribute the pressure when you walk, so that there isn't so much pulling going on in the heel/ankle area.

Love it all - linebacker? What?! Not at all. Everything looks perfect - love the look of the nude shoes but too bad about the clomping!! Ugh! That must be so frustrating. I'm a camper fan too, so I know of this magical heel...too bad you can't replicate the camper. Yay for having your dd home

Thanks Angie & all... I think I fret about looking like a linebacker because the shoulder seams on this blouse extend past my shoulder. In retrospect, maybe I should have tried the next size down for comparison? But I did not because I fell in love with it instantly in the dressing room -- because it is so easy and drapey everywhere else, and looks good untucked, half-tucked or fully tucked into a high waisted skirt. Also looks cute unbuttoned and worn open over a cami. And I liked where the length hits too - not too long, not too short. And that it fit nicely underneath a sweater. I think I was so busy noticing all those advantages, I neglected to notice where the shoulder seam fell -- a detail I am usually a stickler about!

But you all have made me feel better about it so I will put the worry aside...

@Parsley - your "pretty" compliment stood out for me -- as I had not joined in Una's "pretty" thread, but had been following it and mulling it over for myself. I don't aim to be pretty, I suppose I'm neutral about that adjective (do not associate it negatively like I do the dreaded word, "cute."). I was aiming for easy, polished, sophisticated (the navy + white to be seems sophisticated), and modern (adding blush and shoes which are both on trend).

But now that you've mentioned it, yes, I suppose "blush" is pretty ... as are my toes right now, which are Barbie pink. I'm surprising myself lately, usually I steer well clear of pinks because they don't say "grown up" to me. But yeah. I think my bag and my toes are, indeed, pretty... and I'm okay with that. Makes me smile!

I think the ankle strap is what's causing the clunk. Adorable shoes! Too bad they didn't turn out to be good for walking.

Just remember, don't wear sit-down shoes with stand-up pants.

Shiny, I had to go back through your pix a second time to see what the "linebacker" thing was about, and for the life of me, I can't see anything. Maybe there is something about the construction of this shirt that makes the shoulder seam placement not such a big deal?

I think the outfit is great, and I'm sorry about the shoes...especially since you got so many compliments! All I could suggest would be to call a cobbler and see if he can offer any advice as to what is going on.

I don't see anything linebacker-ish at all. I think you look great. I adore this color combo, by the way. One of my favorites. It looks so lovely with your hair!
