Stop the presses, I am wearing white jeans!
Here's the TL;DR:
Joe's Pennies
Club Monaco sweater
Fidgi booties
MK snakeskin hand bag
B&W scarf from Banana Republic
Here's the essay, including an over analysis of the white jeans, and my questions/concerns for the forum:
This is a big deal because I've been wanting and searching for white jeans ever since I stumbled into YLF 6 years ago. Each spring I try on countless pairs and I'm never satisfied. White jeans seem to be a challenge because the fit needs to be just so --- in my usual denim size, they are too tight and unflattering, but sizing up never seemed to work either, as then the proportions would be all wrong. Even if I found a pair that fit just so, then I'd be confronted with white denim that was too thin ("show through") or too thick and stiff, which I can't stand against my skin. So many requirements!! I had all but given up the search...
And then I found these -- Joe's Pennies -- last weekend....
They are a 9 inch rise, which is my ideal rise - Hallelujah!! They are meant to be cropped but on me they are full length (28 inch inseam). I tried on my usual size 26 first, and although they were NOT tight in the waistband, and did not feel tight at all, to my eye they looked tight, in that they showed leg dimples/cellulite, if you know what I mean. So I sized up to the 27. At this looser size, no unflattering dimples.....
But what do you all think?
In the size 27, to my eye, the looser fit almost has a relaxed skinny/Boyfriend look, as the waist is loose enough that I can actually drop the crotch down a bit and belt lower. I.e., even though a 9 inch rise (which comes up to my belly button) I can drop these down and wear as a lower rise. I worry however that the legs then look a little sloppy? These are shown unrolled since it is still too chilly to bare my ankles, but yes, when I roll them to a cropped length, that does seem to smooth out the leg line and look more polished to my eye. They will probably also shrink a bit when I wash them (haven't done that yet).
For comparison, somewhere on my computer I must have a picture of my Joe's Niyah ankle skinnies, which are pretty much identical in cut, except that they are dark wash. I have these in size 26 and I love them. I wear them all the time. I guess I am debating whether I did the right thing, sizing up to a 27, for the white jeans, or if I should have stuck with the 26 and assumed they'd stretch out a bit?
Regarding the rest of the outfit:
The CM sweater - first appearance in a WiW, but I have been wearing this quite a lot. It's incredibly comfortable and DH loves it too. I am so happy with this sweater, especially because it meets all my requirements for work/travel. (Packability, polish, warmth for chilly conference rooms, will span multiple seasons, comfortable/cozy, covers up inevitable bloating belly, works with all sorts of bottoms).
Handbag choice - in retrospect, should've swapped out the bag for my cranberry red satchel to add a pop of color (?), but I haven't had time to switch so I have been building outfits around this snakeskin bag all week.
