WIW When the power came back on ...

We got power back just in time for Christmas Day. We have gas fireplaces and a gas cooktop so we just huddled for warmth. My husband, always the boyscout, stored our food outside in coolers and was preparing to barbeque the turkey if necessary. He enjoys the challenge.

When the lights came back on I realized again how pretty our tree was so I was inspired by the blues and silver. I wore my white jeans, blue tank and heels and the sweater my DH gave me for Christmas and added a silver chain necklace, ring and earrings. We just had immediate family over for dinner and we were all very grateful for the gift of power.

Bonus pic added - Homer after he managed to lay on a blue marker! I think he just wanted to match the Christmas colour theme. The pic doesn't show his brilliant blue eyes.

So glad you got power back! We were lucky in Ptbo, no outage from the ice storm, but Christmas Day the whole west and south-west end had no power for half the day.

Your tree is so pretty! And I love your sweater with those jeans. The blue accents are super.

Beautiful! What a great outfit, and I'm so glad you got your power. Ours was out, off and on, for much of Saturday and Sunday, but we have been lucky since then. Snow falling as I write this...and the ice still very heavy.

Glad to hear you managed to escape it, Celt. Toronto was hit pretty hard with about 1/2 million homes out a one point in the GTA. We live in the beach area of TO where there are lots of old trees so we when we saw the ice building up we knew it was just a matter of time before our power lines went down. The emergency services people did an amazing job working so much overtime.

Yeah we got about 5cm overnight and it is still snowing heavily.

I love the Beach --- I used to go to Nova Fish and Chips all the time

Lovely blue Christmas theme in outfit and decor. Our household has been following the ice storm news and hoping hardship can be minimized. Folk's safety is of paramount importance, but I grieve at the idea of the loss of mature trees.

Just cold and more snow up here, though the sun breaks through intermittently.

Did you get that awful ice storm? It hit just west of us, we missed it thank goodness.

We have snow but living in a snow belt of Southern Ontario we not even counting the inches - we count in feet! We are very grateful the ice storm missed us...

Oh DH has great fashion sense - what a lovely top, and you wear it so beautifully! It did seem to me that despite the terrible storm, people seemed to go out of their way to pull together rekindling the magic of Christmas.

Yes, merwonan, I think that when it comes down to basic food and shelter we all get brought back to what's really important. Sometimes we get so caught up in the "perfect" holiday season that we stress and don't enjoy the moment. This year was a very simple but extremely satisfying Christmas in our home.

When the power came back on we went for a walk along the boardwalk where there are pretty lights on the trees and the snow and lake look incredible. It was magical.

I love the color combination of this outfit. I really need to keep my eye out for the perfect bright blue piece to add to my wardrobe. It looks like Homer was inspired by Angie's Rainbow Hair post and just had to give it a go.
