It's been a strange week.
First the weather got cooler and made me grateful I'd found these maternity jeans before my legs got cramps (blame Reynaud's; it's not *that* cold, objectively). Then the 'heat wave' I seemed to be generating myself suddenly switched off, and I wanted the third layer that felt stifling a week ago. Hence outfit #1 --- worn to lunch with friends on Sunday, and duplicated to work.
Sorry, my photographer forgot I had feet! Which is sad, because I'd hoped to ask for guidance on the length of my boyfriend jeans (to hem? to roll up? less or more?)... The one thing I dislike about the jeans is the darker 'pockets' (really the stretch panel hiding the adjustable band). Eh well...
Oh yeah, I cut my hair. Not quite happy with it, but hope to sort it out next time. My hairstylist was really nervous at what she regarded as a drastic change and refused to go 'too short' --- though she's cut my hair down to pixie before and we've been fine!
Photos #2-3 --- The weather then turned decidedly grey and drippy. Ugh! Time for a coat and my old beat-up booties to wear to work. But underneath, a 'windfall' from last weekend.
I went shopping for a chair to console myself about the hair (ok, I exaggerate!). But the little shop was, uh, closing shop! And were fresh out of chairs. But had clothes on deep discount. I picked up five tops, $5 or less each---including a dressy one that might or might not see any use this year.
This black&white smock (#3) is one of them. The print reminded me of the borders around Russian fairy-tale illustrations. Though, seeing the photo, the shape isn't as flattering as I'd hoped. Loungewear for next summer?
The coat doesn't photograph too well --- it's actually greener than the mustard it appears. Next time, I won't buy so wide a collar for my short neck, but I do love its cheery hue. It was bought on another similarly grey and drippy day in Ireland. It has memories. I still like it; but I doubt I would buy it again, post-YLF.
I could be kinder to my neck by not throttling it in lots of scarf. But I wanted the warmth, between wet hair and rain. This scarf IS a favourite, and a life-saver in silk and wool --- large enough to serve as a shawl (which it did at work), but not too bulky to pack.
#4 is a long, wraparound kameez (Indian tunic). It looks bulkier than it is in real life. Not my best colour, green, but I do enjoy wearing this. Comfier than any pajamas I've owned, with stretchy leggings. Swirly and twirly. Worn to work and then to antenatal class after, where we had fun playing with imaginary balloons and sand buckets!
All in all, a mixed week.
Photo #5 is a bonus shot, for Natalie (Goldenpig), who said I hardly look pregnant in some earlier WIWs. As you can see, Natalie, the secret's out as soon as I turn sideways!
ETA: Oh, hold on! Just found #6! Not a great photo (blurred and, uh, 'candid'), but does it help anyone advise me on the length of these jeans? (Wearing house slippers, but I usually wear flats anyway, particularly now that I can't see my feet so well.) Should I... (a) hem to PPL; (b) roll up to ankle as shown; (c) roll to different length; (d) do something else??
