As I mentioned in another post, I'm in the process of culling my wardrobe down into something closer to minimal. It's been, and will probably continue to be, a slow process. As an experiment, I pulled out a capsule wardrobe for the spring a couple of weeks ago, and have been limiting my work clothes to that. It's black, white, gray, and blue, with a little green and teal tossed in. Green and teal, followed by purple, are are my favorite colors, but somehow I've ended up with a lot of blue shirts that feel spring-appropriate.
I'd like to start documenting the experiment, at least occasionally, for my own reference and learning purposes. I'm trying to wear skirts and dresses more... ideally at least once a week. I went for many years without ever wearing a skirt/dress, so I'm trying to branch out. Most days at work, I can get away with anything from the casual end of business casual to business formal, so it depends on weather, mood, and my meeting schedule for the day.
1. Monday: Cool and rainy, so I wanted cozy and comfortable... and I'm sad that it'll be too warm for boots soon, so I took advantage of the weather to claim another boot day. Earth Spruce boots, gray Express skinnies, gray/light blue/cream Ann Taylor shirt that I thrifted for $5, gray cardigan that was a gift from my mom, silver circle necklace.
2. Tuesday: Also cool and rainy, so... boots. Timberland boots, black Express skinnies, black tank from Target, blue/white geometric print top from StitchFix (I didn't love my two StitchFix experiments, but they were kinda fun and I got two good things out of it).
3. Wednesday: A little warmer. Oxblood Merona flats (why don't they have these leather flats anymore? I love them!), cozy super soft knit charcoal pencil skirt from Express (first time wearing it, and it's the most comfortable, stretchy skirt I've ever had), light blue top from Elizabeth & Clarke.
4. Thursday: Warmer still. Nude-ish snake print Rockport pumps (surprisingly comfortable... I never wear pumps without no-show socks, but I did with these and didn't have blisters at the end of the day), MM LaFleur Lydia dress in deep forest green.
5. Casual Friday (though really not that different from the rest of my week). Black Fergalicious gladiators (I love them, but sadly the faux leather is starting to peel in spots, so I'm going to wear the heck out of them before they retire), the same gray Express skinnies as Monday (cuffed), black tee, black Express military jacket, silver scarf.
... I buy a lot from Express, I'm realizing.
