My mum bought me this Ellen Tracy vintage 80's silk top, which I love because of the quality of the silk and drapiness but also because it makes me feel like Angela Bower from Who's The Boss (check out those flowy sleeves with a tight cuff!) It actually has a pair of matching flowy silk pants (can you believe it?!) That I will be wearing in the Spring.

Worn with my seldom-worn Comrags blazer that you all suggested would work well with a printed top (thank you!)

Vintage pearl collar necklace also from Mom - I think she paid $5. That quality and detail just floors me.

Worn with cranberry kick flares and cheetah pumps for some colour, pattern and freshness.

Do you ever have one of those tops you never knew you needed? I thought I seldom wore these colours, but this top is somehow pulling together so many outfits for me by tying in toppers, pants and jewellery in fresh combinations.

I love this outfit - it makes me feel good (even if it doesn't look the best) because of the quality, detail and story behind the items I am wearing. I realise that is what makes am outfit for me!

Angie - a couple of years ago I realised that wearing only boots was causing me complete wardrobe boredom, and that comfortable and stylish shoes were am important way for new to add pattern and sparkle to an outfit. So I bought about 8 colourful pairs of these J Crew dulci pumps. I wear snowboots to work and then change into my darlings for inside wear only (they are light and compact enough to carry in my tote.) it seems impractical but has brought me a lot of wardrobe joy during long Canadian winters! I wear knee highs with them - sometimes I double up!

Aha. NOT impractical at all. I vote VERY practical and clever, Roxanna.

So you don't need a knee-high for warmth inside either?

Oh, Roxanna! This is gorgeous - and 'you'. Modern, urban, romantic comes to mind. It is my belief that florals work particularly well with curly do's.

Angie, if a Canadian woman has a desk, she usually has a collection of shoes living under it from November to April. They migrate seasonally - just like certain birds!

@Angie - I have a space heater under my desk that keeps my feet toasty but if I have a lot of meetings away from my desk I wear the knee highs.

@Runcarla - I have four pair under my desk right now!

@Angie - I'm contemplating keeping my gilet in my office closet so I can put it on in the mornings once I get to work - and that way I'll get some wear out of it in the winter months!

Laughing at your pumps story. I went out of the house today in bare ankles (barefeet inside some fashion-y pompom sneakers) - just from house to car to hair salon and back . I don't think anyone has perished from bare ankles - but yes, it may look seasonally confused. I didn't care though

@lisa p - I'd love to wear the two pieces together for the drama of it. Mum is altering the pants though (they were tiny!) So we will see how that goes.
Yes, I dip the occasional bare ankle dash too - but only indoors. I can't stand cold feet - but I need sartorial variety! Oh, the plight of us poor Canadians

LOL! It hit 8degC earlier this week and I was in cropped jeans and my silver Cons sans socks! Snow in piles, but streets and sidewalks clear.
Back to 0degC today and I am in undershirt, turtleneck sweater, and wool socks. I'm hugging the fireplace.

@Christina you are TOTALLY right! With a full time job and two young kids, I could never go vintage hunting anymore- it's so amazing that she funds these treasures for me in fact I make a point to wear something she has given me every single day.

Thank you so much fabbers! I didn't actually think this outfit was super flattering on me but I wanted to share BC I loved the pieces and the way they came together.

A space heater will do the trick - so will a gilet and keeping multiple pairs of shoes at the office. CLEVER.
