WIW: Vertigo, Side B

What I wore to work today is Side B of my outfit last Friday, for the Picture Perfect Challenge, Day 5, to reflect the poster for Vertigo.

Knit a-line skirt, black with red and gray bubble print (reverse side of skirt I wore last Friday) (made by me)
Black and white striped 3/4-sleeve, scoop-neck tee (Halogen)
Wine-red 3/4-sleeve cardigan (Halogen)
Black patterned fishnet-style hose (Nordstrom?)
Wine-red heeled tie-up pumps (Naya)
sparkly necklace
tiny crystal drop earrings

Wow! I'm in awe of your sewing skills. It must be like being your own designer. There are lots of details in this outfit making it complex and interesting...a great Vertigo side B. well done.

Love this silhouette on you. Great use of texture, pattern and color. It looks rich and so visually interesting. The wine in the sweater picks up your lip color. Very nice. I also love the reversible skirt--the hem on that looks almost sheer. How clever to make an A and B side of a skirt--you are an amazing seamstress. Shoes are gorgeous and I love your choice of hosiery. You always look immaculate, Firecracker!

WOW! So texturally rich, and perfectly evocative of the theme yet again! This is amazing. What a brilliant idea to make that skirt reversible. And how amazing to know that you can create such unique pieces for yourself.

Joy, thanks! Yes, I do design quite a bit as I sew. The reversible skirt was inspired by some that I've seen by Nallie & Millie. It's fun to take patterns and play with them, to change the looks.

Kellygirl, thanks for your compliments. Good eye on the hem--it is edged with a mesh knit, which shows regardless of which side I'm wearing out. I also left the edges raw on the mesh and the other two knits (i.e., I didn't turn under the edges)--because the knits don't ravel, and you see a lot of raw edges these days in ready-to-wear.

Your sewing skills are clearly amazing but I want to put in a word for your styling - I really like the contrast between the (almost) primly buttoned cardigan and neat top with the arty shoes, stockings, and skirt pattern. Great look!

Wow, Liz, a 10--thank you! I have worn this skirt and the striped top together, with a different cardigan and boots for colder days, and it's been kind of a FFBO for me.

Zebra print on one side and bubble print on the other with a touch of peek-a-boo tulle at the hem?! So FAB!! I always enjoy your self-made pieces!

This outfit outdoes your first Vertigo look. Luv the pattern and texture mix. The outfit makes me think of red licorice and Pop Rock candy. Sweet tooth anyone?

I love it. I love the colors the print the texture the sheer vs. opaque the SHOES! This is just too fabulous for me this morning!
