WIW : Twin Set My Way :) - YouLookFab Forum

HI Ladies,

I do love a twin set, but find the more conventional versions just doesn't feel like me:) So today I have worn my new grey Bonds tee shirt under a longer drapey cardigan. The greys are very close in colour and hence, I have created my own version of a twin set.

This outfit is for bible study and coffee this morning and running around this afternoon.

New black skinny jeans
( they have proven to be such a workhorse on my non office days that I now have three pairs)
Grey Bonds Tee (need more of these)
Grey Cardigan (The LaBoratory)
Rivers ankle boots
Cobalt, grey, black and white scarf (Big W?!)

Thanks for looking. Does this qualify as a twin set?

p.s. please excuse my crazy hair today. Need a cut and colour and it's kind of trying to do it's own thing at the moment lol.

I LOVE that scarf with this outfit. I like the idea of a long layer over short for a reinterpretation of a twinset -- innovative! I am simply transfixed by the pattern and color of the scarf. It just elevates the twinset from good to simply compelling. I can't look away.

Oh, yes! This is a fab twinset. You look great in this outfit. The scarf is a beautiful addition, and I like the necklace with it, too.

I'm wondering how tall you are? I notice you wear a lot of long, drapey tops and they look stunning. Do you have to be tall for that proportion to work? I am 5' 5" and wondering if I could pull off this look.

No one is going to look at you and think, " Oh, she's wearing a twin set." But it probably is technically. Any possible miss match is beautifully covered by that gorgeous scarf, and the way you are wearing it flowing and unknotted really fits your style.

Peri I am 5ft1 and a bit:). I think it has a lot to do with lengths. If I wear a layer longer than knee length it tends to swamp me and not look particularly flattering;)

Well then I'm going to try it! Now I feel tall!

I love black skinnies too and have 3 at last count.
Are the booties a recent purchase? They are on my Autumn 2014 list- look so comfy and practical.

Lyn I bought these booties maybe 3 months back. Last time I looked Rivers still had them:). They are the River Soft and I love them.

A standard twinset is not something I have ever thought of wearing, but your version is (as usual) superb. I find the combination with the scarf exquisite. You have such a good eye. Fab!

You always look like a modern art installation to me. In the most enviable way. Top rate twinset effect here. Your eye and discipline for proportion are amazing. You're 5'1 and wear this kind of length, drape, and layering like a statuesque woman might. You are statuesque--at your own latitude. That's a great compliment by the way.

Fab twin set Deborah - I love seeing different interpretations of the classics like this. I don't like a traditional twin set either as it feels too conservative or something. This one is perfect.

This bible study outfit has taken the twin set to biblical heights. I adore pale grey on you, Deb, it goes perfectly with your coloring. And that scarf with the blue edge adds a great dash of lengthening that I love. Now I'm going to be on the lookout for a scarf with a stripe like that, it's so nifty. I've been thinking...all summer I was a little bit regretting our seasons were opposite. I love your style so much I want to look just like you, but you were showing winter while I was trying to survive summer.

I think we've reached a happy meeting point...you are still showing cool weather right as I'm trying to figure out what I want to wear come October/November. Please post as many WIWs as you can stand to take!!
