WIW: Tux Pants and Teal - YouLookFab Forum

Okay, first an apology for the picture quality. DH and I are still figuring out how to get clearer pics for wiw's. I can tell by the house colors that the color is a bit distorted. My pants read almost brown on my monitor, but they're black and white.

Second, I looked at these and realized it looks like I'm about to be electrocuted with the little metal cap over my head, which is actually the lamppost. (Uh oh, the outfit was THAT bad!) Of course by the time I realized this, it was too dark to go back out and retake.

I wore this to work with a plain black tee shirt which ends slightly below my waist. For the photos, I changed into a longer tank and felt better in it than the shorter shirt.

Is the pant length okay? (I would not wear these with heels.) Could they be worn shorter?

Yay - photos!!! What a pretty smile you have. And please don't worry about the photo quality. It takes a bit of time and practice to get that down. Your garden is so lovely, by the way.

And that teal is lovely on you, also. I wish I could advise about the pant length. It's hard for me to see on my laptop. Others will give you wiser thoughts. It might be useful to pin them up a bit as an experiment to see how you feel.

How lovely to see you I can see why you were happier in the longer length top, it looks spot on; shorter wouldn't quite look right. The pant length looks ok to me, though I think the conventional wisdom from Angie would put them up a bit higher. This length could be worn with heels, and shorter would certainly work well too. I like the necklaced version from what I can see. Thanks for sharing!

The teal and the shape of the cardigan are gorgeous on you. I'm no expert on pants length (especially when it comes to being tall enough to buy pants from somewhere called Long Tall Sally), so I'll defer to others on that, but they look good to me.

I had to giggle at the electrocution part ... But I wouldn't have noticed if you hadn't pointed out! Your smile does a good job of distracting the viewer ... I think the length of the top and pants are good here. And I like the pop of color with the cardigan.

I am not very sure of shortening the pants and I like Suz's idea of pinning it up and experimenting. And yes you have an amazing garden!

I think this is a great outfit. The teal color is especially lovely on you.
I cannot see well the length of the pants because it is obscured a bit with your beautiful garden ( that clematis is to die for!) I know that these pants are supposed to be ankle length but I let the length out on mine to get them full length.

Great outfit, Windchime! You look gorgeous in that shade of blue, and I like the pant length. I wear my ballet flats with tapered pants that length. I like the top length, too, and the subtle pattern mix between the top and the pants. Nicely done!
I laughed at your comment about the lamp. (I'm not sure I would have noticed it!) Maybe you should try to pose more shots that way, so the metal cap becomes part of your signature look. ha ha!

Really nice outfit! Love the drape cardigan and the fit of those pants is prefect? My sister wears Long Tall Sally (she is 6ft). I like the pant length but I have a soft spot for that ankle length.

I loooove this colour palette of grey, teal and black! And I do love a drape cardi (swoon).
I think the pants length looks good. You could wear them longer with this outfit if you wanted. If you wear them shorter I would change the top to sleeveless or a cap sleeve. Have fun!

Thanks, everyone! The irony is that, like Sveta, I had these pants let out all the way when I purchased them. This was last fall; I'd just started my sartorial education process, and I was all about not wearing pants too short anymore. THEN, this spring, I learned on YLF about ankle pant length and realized I could have left these pants alone and they would have been fine as ankle pants! Oh well, much easier to cut fabric off than to put it back on, lol.

I'd leave the pants length alone, although I do feel they could be a little shorter with the round toe flats.
