WIW: Tunic sweater & skirt?

I'm in love with this Joie tunic sweater (shamelessly copying Una!) and I want to wear all the time! I was lucky enough to find it way marked down, too.
It's a natural over skinny pants, but I wanted to see if it would work with a skirt.

This is what I wore out to dinner with friends the other night, and I felt good in it, but my question is about the proportions. Does the longer, looser shape work over a skirt, or should I save it for skinnies?

Also, I'm wearing my Angie's pick Fidji booties- they're great, and I think they'll be perfect for my upcoming trip to Paris, because although they have a heel I can really walk in them!

I was afraid it would be too long, but on you it does not look it. Hmmm.

By the way, Susie is eyeing those Eileen Fisher caged wedge sandals you have -- they come in metallics this year! Did you find them TTS?

Oh WOW...thanks!! I have the same sweater (we are the Joie club!) in cobalt and I'm thrilled to see how good it looks with a skirt. I will have to try this...if I ever need to wear a skirt. Well, my skirt is not as fab as yours...and neither are my boots...but I'm hoping it will work anyway. You look fantastic.

In her edgy post, Angie said that one way to be edgy was to wear unexpected proportions. I hate skinny pants, so I wear my tunics with boot cuts and insist that it looks fab anyway. To me at least, and I'm happy. Ever since that post I have decided that is my version of edgy...not tough edgy, but outside the expected formula.

Well, your skirt is the skirt equivalent of skinny, so I see no issue with proportion anyway. But I think it is fantastic to see something different than the standard tunic and skinny pants...you look fab. And edgy!

Angie, I have so many pairs of black boots, so I hesitated buying these, BUT what sold me is the close fit at the ankle so that they work with slim pants without the pants getting halfway tucked inside when I walk, and the pointy toe and manageable height heel. I had a similar pair of Prada ones a few years ago, and I wore them into the ground. I just couldn't pass these up. Thanks for the tip!

Suz, This is an XS, so it isn't as long or oversized on me. (It runs really big!) On you it would undoubtedly be a little longer and bigger, but I think it would work. They're pretty well sold out everywhere, though. I was lucky to snag this on sale.

For Susie, if you see this. Those Eileen Fisher booties are the BEST! They do run TTS. Go for it! You won't regret it.

Love this! The skirt looks great with the tunic. I think the dark tights and shoes help with the proportion issue by making your lower half all together visually (gosh, I hope that makes sense).

Wow...each of your WIWs gets better than the last, and they're all so fantastic, that doesn't seem like it should be possible! The proportions, the leather + cashmere, the booties....just elegant, edgy perfection! And you look radiant in taupe!

Unfrumped, I think you'd look great in something like this! One of my daughters has a similar shape to yours and I gave her an asymmetrical sweater for Christmas and it was super flattering on her.

Sara, I think you're on to something. Maybe the key is making the bottom half look kind of like skinnies even though it's a skirt.
