WIW Tue (to walk errands) and felt off

I like this top, but I seem to have trouble with it. The white chiffon panel accentuates my wider hip/thigh area. Guess that goes with the "own it or hide it" post lol. It's not that I mind my hips, but it looks off to me, like an out of place white band screaming, "look here!" I've successfully worn this top with white bottoms and my black and white ikat jeans but that's about it. Should I just slot it into the narrow black and white category and leave it at that?
I tried switching the shoe from the black flats to the sneakers, to echo the white a little with the sole, but not sure it did much. I think it did help balance the pant length. Perhaps this is just a case of too much going on for my personal threshold.

Have you tried it with your new black leather pants? Any other solid color pants? I think it's the pattern of the pants that's throwing it off. What do you think?

I think it's two strong and different patterns competing - summery graphic vs. heavier snake. I like both pieces though!

Well, thanks Anna! I do think it's a personal comfort level thing. I mean, I can do red moto pants with 8 zippers and not feel OTT, but put more than 2 colors together or a print with a colorblock, and I start to twitch LOL.
I do like the idea of them with maybe my wine, army green or red pants. Thanks for the idea, Carter.
For now, minimal me will keep with solid color tops with these pants

Looks good to me, but could also look good in a different/more simplified way over a solid color skirt or pants. Part of me wants a little black on the sneaker, or a little gray up higher but your watch(?) does do this a bit.

Love both the top and pants separately too.

FWIW the white part looks very flowing away from your body to me. As in, I know that's clothes and not your shape, which I think is lovely.

I think it's a fun look, too, but I hear you. I would personally feel off in this, too. I think it's because there are three very strong statement pieces.

I know most people will disagree with me, but I am not a fan. I agree with your first assessment that there is too much going on in this outfit. The black and white pattern, plus the ruffle on the top, plus the patterned pants, plus the very trendy (but cute!) sneakers? Too much for my eyes. Like I said though others disagree.

In pics #1 and #2 you don't look like your usual long, cool, sleek self. Your legs look shorter. The ruffle somehow doesn't look quite right with the shoes. Pic #3 is better. I think the top might look really good with black pants, such as your new leather pants.

Mo, I may have a similar comfort zone to yours, because I thought maybe too much was going on with the outfit, though I love all the pieces. And yet: my initial thought was, gee, you've got the best figure on the planet!
Interesting to see Anna and Angie's comments. I can almost feel the tectonic plates shifting in my brain. I bet a week from now I could come back to this post and think, wow, what a cool outfit!-- without any of today's ALGO reservations. Ha ha!

I'm not sure you really need to stick with just black and white. Regular jeans, or solid colored pants might work too?
